I had a really interesting conversation with my friend Katie about her dog, Birdie, and the progress they’ve made together.

Birdie used to be incredibly reactive, which made social situations challenging for both of them. That made her a great candidate for training at Zoom Room. With support from the trainers, Birdie has made amazing progress—and Katie has grown more confident right alongside her.

Birdie’s story is one of many examples of dogs working through challenges and finding success with the right support. It’s wonderful to see how training has helped them feel more confident in all kinds of situations.

If you and your dog could use some support, reach out to Zoom Room and ask about getting started. 🐾

🐾🎓 THIRD DAY OF SCHOOL!

Back at Zoom Room for my third class, but this time Dad signed me up for my very first OBEDIENCE class! 😂

Apparently being cute, ridiculously smart, and getting whatever I want isn’t enough anymore. Now they’re expecting me to actually LISTEN?! 😳

I thought we had a pretty good system going… I do whatever I want, and Dad gives me treats. 🤷‍♀️😂

We’ll see how this whole obedience thing works out.

54% Chihuahua. 100% Terrierist. Obedience pending. 😈❤️

✨ Meet Jackie Mendes of Zoom Room! 🐾

As a Zoom Room franchisee and Senior Vice President, Jackie Mendes brings incredible knowledge and experience to the world of franchising. At IFA, she took the stage as one of the many keynote speakers, sharing what it really takes to become a franchisee, offering real-world examples, and diving deep into the process with the audience. Her passion, expertise, and ability to break down the journey into meaningful, practical insights made it clear that she truly knows her stuff!

As a photographer who gets to meet and connect with so many incredible people, I can honestly say that Zoom Room was one of my favorite booths at IFA — and it was because of the people behind it. The energy, the passion, and the genuine connections made this team stand out in such a special way. ❤️🐶

Thank you, Jackie, for sharing your knowledge and helping others see what’s possible through franchising!

🐶 Dog parents, stop wasting money on dog gear you don’t actually need. 👀

As dog trainers, we’ve seen what actually makes a difference when it comes to training your dog. And spoiler alert: more expensive doesn’t always mean better!

Here are a few things we think are worth EVERY penny. 🐾

🍪 A Treat Pouch: Keep rewards handy so you can reinforce good behavior the moment it happens. Timing matters!

🥩 High-Value Training Treats: When distractions are everywhere, the right reward can make YOU more interesting than that squirrel across the street.

🦮 Two Different Leashes: A 4–6 ft leash for everyday walks and loose-leash training. A 15–30 ft long line for recall training, exploring, and practicing freedom safely.

🐕 A Front-Clip Harness: A helpful tool for managing leash pulling while you teach your dog better walking manners.

💤 A Training Mat: One of our favorites for teaching place, impulse control, relaxation, and how to settle around distractions.

🚫 What we’d skip: Prong collars, choke chains, e-collars, and retractable leashes. You don’t need fear, pain, or intimidation to teach your dog new skills.

At Zoom Room, we’re all about positive reinforcement dog training that builds confidence, communication, and trust between dogs and their people. 🧡

Would your dog end up on the no-fly list? ✈️🐶😂

Welcome aboard Zoom Room Airlines! 🐾

Our Advanced Obedience pups took dog training to new heights with a little airplane simulation!

Practicing patience, impulse control, and staying calm around distractions.

Because real-life dog training should prepare your pup for just about anything. Even imaginary flights. 😂

Be honest… if your pup could fly with you where are you going first?👇

🐶 Your dog isn’t the only one who grows through training. 🧡

Dog training is about SO much more than teaching your dog to sit, stay, or walk nicely on a leash.

It’s about learning to communicate.
Building confidence.
Creating trust.
Trying new things together.
And having FUN along the way. 🐾

At Zoom Room, we believe the best dog training happens when both ends of the leash are learning.

Through positive reinforcement dog training, obedience classes, agility training, and enrichment activities, we help dogs AND their people develop skills that make everyday life better.

Because the goal isn’t just a well-trained dog.

It’s a stronger relationship with your best friend. 🥹🐕

Your dog can smell your stress. Even when you swear you’re fine. 👀🐶

And science actually backs this up. 🧠

Dogs have an incredible sense of smell, but did you know they can detect changes in your body when you’re stressed?

When we experience stress, the chemical compounds in our breath and sweat can change. And your dog’s nose can pick up on those differences. 👃

But here’s where it gets interesting…

🔬 A 2024 study found that the scent of human stress made dogs more cautious in certain situations.

So what does this mean for you and your dog?

Your emotions could play a role in how your dog responds to the world, including during dog training.

That’s why patience, positive reinforcement, and creating a supportive learning environment are so important.

🐾 Take breaks when training gets frustrating.

🐾 Celebrate small wins.

🐾 Pay attention to your dog’s body language.

🐾 Remember, you’re learning together.

And no, this doesn’t mean you have to be calm 24/7. Your dog isn’t automatically stressed just because you are. ❤️

💬 Dog parents, have you ever noticed your dog acting differently when YOU’RE stressed? Tell us in the comments!

And it could be affecting them.” Introduces the science behind how dogs detect human stress through scent and how owner emotions may influence dog behavior.

Those dogs look very suspicious. 🎃🐶👀

To us, they’re just cute Halloween dog statues. To your dog, they’re suspicious new roommates who don’t smell right, don’t move, and refuse to introduce themselves. 💀

But spooky season is actually a great time to practice dog desensitization and confidence-building! 🐾

👻 Let your dog investigate at their own pace.

🎃 Reward curiosity and calm behavior.

🐾 Start from a comfortable distance and use plenty of treats.

💀 Never force an interaction. Let your dog decide when they’re ready!

Using positive reinforcement dog training to introduce unfamiliar decorations can help your pup feel more confident around new sights, sounds, and strange objects.

Be honest… would your dog investigate or start barking at the suspicious new neighbors? 😂👇

🐾 Does your dog need training—but you’re not sure where to begin?

I stopped by Zoom Room and spoke with one of their trainers about a question I receive all the time: “My dog has never had professional training, so how do I know which class or skill level is right for them?”

The answer is simple: start with Zoom Room’s FREE orientation! ❤️

During the orientation, you’ll have an opportunity to tour the facility, learn about the different packages they offer and discuss your dog’s individual needs. The team will even create a personalized “pup-scription” outlining the training options and next steps that could help your dog.

Zoom Room offers group classes, which can be a wonderful option for many dogs—but they also understand that not every dog is ready or comfortable in a group environment. That’s why they offer private, one-on-one training as well.

Whether your dog needs help with basic obedience, confidence, socialization or more individualized support, the team can help you determine the best place to start.

Give one of their two Johnson County locations a call, schedule your free orientation and take that first step toward helping your dog become happier, more confident and better prepared for life. 🐶❤️
