A little backstage magic at METRO MOOD! ✨

Behind every runway look is the creative work of talented makeup artists, using colour, texture and imagination to transform familiar faces into fashion personalities. Add a little attitude, expression and individuality from the models, and the results are something special.

Captured backstage by photographer Matilda Baumann at Revival Runway’s METRO MOOD fashion show, these striking portraits celebrate the artistry of makeup and the personalities that bring fashion to life.

Japanese aesthetics meet contemporary fashion on our Melbourne runway! ✨

Melbourne-based designer @misatoyukimoto_official brought her distinctive approach to fashion to our recent METRO MOOD runway show, showcasing designs that blend Japanese traditions with contemporary Western influences.

Her made-to-order label, MISATO YUKIMOTO OFFICIAL, explores personal stories and cultural connections through thoughtful silhouettes, beautiful craftsmanship and carefully selected fabrics. Working with Japanese textiles and locally sourced Melbourne materials, Misato creates garments that balance tradition and innovation, with a focus on sustainability and considered production.

It was wonderful to see her unique designs on the METRO MOOD runway on Sunday 20 September 2026, alongside a fabulous selection of other independent Melbourne fashion labels.

What a fabulous way to close the show! Melbourne designer @gwendolynne brought a beautiful finale to Revival Runway’s recent METRO MOOD fashion show, with a collection celebrating romance, elegance and exquisite craftsmanship.

For more than two decades, designer Gwendolynne Burkin has been creating timeless bridal and occasionwear from her Fitzroy atelier, earning a reputation for her beautiful fabrics, intricate couture hand embellishment and distinctive romantic style. Working with small collections and a focus on quality, Gwendolynne creates garments designed to be treasured and worn well beyond a single special occasion.

As the final designer on the METRO MOOD runway on Sunday 20 September, Gwendolynne provided a stunning finish to an afternoon celebrating Melbourne’s independent fashion designers.

A huge thank you to Gwendolynne for being part of the Revival Runway family!

Dark, romantic and distinctly Melbourne 🖤

@mobmelbourne brought its distinctive mix of dark romanticism, sharp tailoring and utilitarian influences to the METRO MOOD runway.

Founded by Leo Wannasit in 2022, the Melbourne label explores ideas of identity, community and transformation through contemporary fashion. Rather than following trends, MOB Melbourne creates considered garments designed for longevity, produced in limited releases and connected by a broader narrative of emotion, personal growth and human connection.

It was fantastic to see Leo’s distinctive vision as part of the line-up of independent Australian designers at Revival Runway’s METRO MOOD fashion show.

Soft silhouettes and thoughtful design on the METRO MOOD runway ✨

Melbourne womenswear label @maisielabel brought its beautifully considered approach to fashion to Revival Runway’s recent METRO MOOD show. Created by Taya Payne, Maisie focuses on timeless, versatile pieces rather than seasonal trends. Feminine silhouettes, wearability and longevity sit at the heart of the label, with garments designed to move easily between different occasions and remain part of a wardrobe for years.

It was wonderful to have Maisie join the line-up of independent Australian labels at METRO MOOD and share Taya’s quietly feminine approach to design on the runway.

A little vintage influence, timeless shapes and pieces made to be worn again and again

@missou.au brought its considered approach to womenswear to the METRO MOOD runway, showcasing versatile designs created by Australian designer Rafaela.

Ethically made in Melbourne using beautiful fine and deadstock fabrics, each MISSOU collection is produced in small quantities, with a focus on clothes that can be mixed, styled and enjoyed well beyond a single season.

We loved having MISSOU as part of METRO MOOD and seeing these quietly distinctive pieces come to life on the Revival Runway catwalk.
