Intra Cheeks 7: High Voltage

New blood occupied new sides this past weekend, as a couple of ‘Classic’ Cheeks Turner and Ewan picked from a bushel of both fresh and stale Cheeks to build their 11s, and took to Honor Oak Sports Ground for our first foray onto grass. The choosing was done a week before the game to avoid any late uneven substitutions, but of course we managed to have a couple drop outs regardless.
With Turners team a little shaken or stirred, we took to the long grass in search of glory. Ewan won the coin toss and avoided the bibs, an early victory that heralded what was to come.
Turners men started well and struck first, new man Lyle sweeping a wonderful finish into the near post. As the game grew however, mistakes crept in, and Dons lost the ball in the savanna, with Dan stealing in and lashing the bar (more subtle foreshadowing), as Shand knocked in the rebound. From then on, Ewan’s men stole a march on our boys in bibs, with another mistake at the back kindly gifting another as Charch galloped through to finish. Turners men were wounded, in part literally as Henrys ankle fell victim to a 3rd degree Rincxing. Goals from another new man Sam, as well as a great finish from PW during his cameo, clipping it past a static freshly cooked devonshire Hen, widened the gap. Our misery was compounded when Rincx swung a cross in, only for ZB the CB, forced into goal by injury, to pat the ball into the back of his own net. Rincx wheeled away with his signature 🤫 celebration, a pantomime villain. A late consolation from Dons at the back post wasn’t enough to salvage any type of result for Turner’s men, and although the scoreline read 5-2, (5-3 some argue) it was a very fair and well-contested affair, but Ewie’s men were deserved winners. Special mention to MOTM Tom France, who was colossal in his 118 headband. The game ended with some spice, with people flying in (notably an arguable red from me on Tucks, that he was not thrilled with), but at the end of the day we all gave each other a little cuddle and went and got absolutely steaming. The Cheeks, as always, were the winners.

Hello adoring and deprived fans of this great institution, daddy is back. Daddy Cheeks that is.
A short one just to scream from the instagram rooftops our love of winning games. A foray into a new league has proved both confidence boosting and subsequently profoundly humbling. And then good again.
Last night we won 4-0. Some minor head loss from yours truly but a blemish on an otherwise cultured performance from our wet Cheeks.
Recent signing Rocai a colossal man of the match. Mays, Skip, Joel (2) finishing their dinners.
Onto Intracheeks 6: A New Blood - tomorrow morning in the bluster.
