THE hare with the amber eyes. If you can’t get to Vienna to see this iconic netsuke in person (it is on permanent loan to the Jüdisches Museum Wien), read the captivating, gut-wrenching book whose title it inspired. @jewishmuseumvienna @edmunddewaal @loweartmuseum @aabroadinc #vienna #jewishvienna #ephrussi #netsuke #theharewithambereyes

Secession Vienna, designed by Joseph Maria Olbrich. An enigmatic highlight is Gustav Klimt’s Beethoven Frieze, a site-specific work (now in new location in the building, post-World War II rebuild), created in 1902 for the XIV Secessionist Exhibition and inspired by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (Op. 125). Unmissable! @loweartmuseum @aabroadinc @univmiami @viennasecession rameschdaha #gustavklimt #josephmariaolbrich #secession #vienna #beethovenfrieze

Frank Gehry taught the world that architecture can lift the spirit.

His influence reached the City of Miami Beach in a way that shaped both our skyline and our creative imagination.

Gehry wrote the preface to Bernard’s architectural monograph “Zyscovich Architecture and Real Urbanism” and he did so with a level of insight and respect that still gives me goosebumps.

For nearly a decade, I built my career as “Little Z” inside the world that Bernard created and that Gehry himself honored.

In that preface Gehry spoke about their shared Talmudic training and how it shaped their vision for Miami Beach. He connected Bernard’s work with the cultural heartbeat of this city and he recognized Miami as a place worthy of global imagination.

One line from that preface has stayed with me.

Gehry wrote that Bernard Zyscovich FAIA work created a deeply questioned and answered path to the future. I keep returning to that sentence today. On tbe day of Gehry’s passing.

It reminds me that great design and great storytelling begin with inquiry and end with clarity. Miami carries both in its bones and I carry the privilege of that creative lineage in my own work.

When the Miami Center for Architecture & Design (MCAD) honored @avrajain with its Visionary Award at the 6th Annual Urban Warrior Awards, it wasn’t just a celebration of one developer’s achievements—it was a recognition of how vision and heart can reshape a city.

For Jain, the award represents more than personal success. “It’s very special,” she said. “I’ve always believed that transformation happens one block at a time — and one person at a time. Receiving this award feels less like a recognition of me, and more like an acknowledgment of everyone who dared to believe Miami could be built on soul, not speculation.”

A former Wall Street bond trader turned community builder, Jain has redefined Miami’s urban fabric through @vagabondgroup, leading over $250 million in boutique investments and 500,000 square feet of adaptive reuse projects. From restoring icons like the @vagabondhotelmiami and Gold Dust Motel to creating @factorytown_ with @livenation / @insomniacevents, her work blends design, culture, and community.

Her advice to the next generation of Miami builders is both practical and poetic: “Don’t build just to fill space. Build to create neighborhoods. Start by listening—the brief lives in the block. Finance for patience. Curate tenants and experiences. Do some things exceptionally well and believe in the power of community.”

So grateful for the beautiful group of people who came together to support me for the @miami_cad URBAN WARRIOR Award, for the 25 years of work in Miami, from Pawn Shop to MIMO, to affordable housing all the way to @factorytown_.

Thanks to the Vagabond team, and those who have contributed to these efforts.

@zyscovich, it was an honor to share the stage with you. Thank you @miami_cad
