Meet Earth, the comforting side of Kaland ☕️

If you like your coffee sweet, smooth and easy to drink, Earth is for you. It’s lovely as an espresso and works beautifully in milky drinks like flat whites and lattes. The coffee behind it may change, but Earth will always be a sweet, balanced all-rounder.

Right now, our Earth coffee comes from an organic community of farmers in Cajamarca, Peru. Peru is often overlooked for coffee, but its high mountains, volcanic soil and warm climate make it a brilliant place to grow it.
It’s naturally sweet, with notes of cocoa and walnut, and roasted in small batches here in Somerset by Viv.

If you’re looking for speciality coffee in Frome and Somerset, here’s where you’ll find our pop up:

We’re a small-batch coffee roastery based in Somerset, and every bag is roasted here by Viv.

On the menu you’ll find flat whites, lattes and all your coffee shop favourites, plus matcha lattes and seasonal speciality drinks.

We’ll also have bags of our freshly roasted coffee beans to buy at Shepton Sunday Market and the Frome Independent, so you can stock up for home while you’re there!

Can’t make it along? You can also buy our beans online, with free local collection in Frome or shipping anywhere in the UK ☕️

We’re back at @communafrome this weekend! Struggling to get a coffee at the Frome Independent because of the queues? Come find us instead.

As a small-batch roastery, Kaland roasts every bag ourselves. The coffee of choice this week is Earth, it’s from our organic community lot in Peru and roasted here in Somerset. It is sweet and balanced with notes of cocoa and walnut ☕️

We’ve also got seasonal drinks like our Pumpkin Spiced Matcha, Matcha Cloud and Mont Blanc, plus all the usual coffee shop favourites.

My lovely friend came over to photograph the cutest little models imaginable, and mama Indigo was such a sweetheart throughout the whole thing 🐈🤍

She kept coming over to check on her babies, watching what we were doing and patiently making sure her little family was okay. Such a wonderful mama 🥹🐾

We called in the village and felt the immense support of our community, family and friends in creating the most magical ceremony and celebration of our love at our home in Kernow. We are percolating in the fullness of this time, allowing all the connection and abundance we have received to cocoon this union. There are endless reflections arising, especially on the incredible art of integration and belonging this offered, but for now we’ll share a glimpse into our wedding day, as seen through the loving lens of @zzearthling

We’re beyond grateful for this time together with our beloveds circling round, weaving many cultures and chapters of life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

✨ Some days are simply oozing with magic. The sun shines in a specific way, the wind sways through your hair with a soft force and the birds sing their song to you.

This day was one of those. Two months ago, I was living in a small village in the Sierra Nevada mountains in the south of Spain. I met up with Zsuzsa and Silvia early in the morning to catch the most delicate sunlight. We had all the props, materials, clothing & feathers ready- everything perfectly prepared for a day of diving into Earth Maiden’s feather world. A world of textures, colors, shades, patterns and designs. A day to honor mother nature’s gifts to us, from her deep rich soil, to her beautifully curated bright blue Macaw feathers.

I could feel the awe. The pure wonder that wild nature invites us into. Watching my creations meet and merge with the plants & trees around them overflowed me with joy.

So many moments caught in time: The soft and powerful sensual movement of the female body. The flow of the feathers in the wind. The way the sun outlined her face.

I had to pinch myself to realize that it was not a dream. I could see it with my own eyes.
Feeling the connection between the feminine human essence and Mother Nature’s grace touches me deeply. It is my language. It is my study.

I am forever grateful to the beautiful model & mover Silvia and the incredibly talented photographer @zzearthling for creating feather magic with me that day.

A day forever etched in my memory.
We are the earth’s maidens.

A very warm welcome to Vivien from @Kaland.Coffee, joining us for her second Shepton Sunday Market this month.

Kaland’s offering is simple: speciality coffee, roasted locally by Vivien, alongside cold brew coffees and iced teas designed to be refreshing, delicious and easy to enjoy as you wander the market. Built around collaboration, Kaland works with small, independent and often female-led businesses, sourcing coffee through UK importers who prioritise long-term relationships and community at origin.

And yes, I can personally confirm Vivien’s matcha with rhubarb cold foam is very special. Find @Kaland.Coffee at the bottom of Town Street, outside @14_town_street.

We have always followed @longmilescoffee closely, as we are big fans of their work and the impact it makes on the sustainability of producing coffee. The largest positive impact is to the smallholder coffee farmers, because they make up the majority of growers in Burundi. They can sell their coffee cherries for a much higher price when there is a facility that cares for and markets their coffee with greater transparency.

This lot comes from Gaharo — the hill where Long Miles’ story began. At its base is Bukeye, their first washing station, built by the same farmers who now bring their cherries there each harvest. What started as overlooked land has become something shared — twese hamwe — all of us together.

This natural-processed coffee is a testament to the processing quality that can be achieved with a well-built and well-run washing station. Notes of strawberry, purple grape, and soft florals.

In addition to being available @brightercoffee and a number of our wholesale partners, you can find this beautiful coffee featured at @pcpsydney as their ‘espresso of the day’ over the next couple weeks.
