Tomorrow, Friday 25 September, we’re opening the doors from 15:30-17:00 for our September Open Studio.

Come by, meet the artists, have a look at what they’ve been working on, and hang out with us for a bit.

Then, after a dinner break, at 20:00 we migrate to Kvörn, where Fountain Lakes - Emma Heeney + Jac Tonks - will be playing a concert.

A very reasonable Friday in Stöðvarfjörður.

Thanks to the @crowmuseum for a wonderful evening last night! It was fantastic to connect with new acquaintances, as well my colleagues and good friends.

My work explores architecture, pattern and ornament in sacred spaces. Though it is not culturally specific, in recent times it has been leaning towards asian influences. This exhibition, Squaring the Circle references the mathematical impossibility of drawing a circle the same area as a square. This serves as a metaphor for impossibility of humans to understand the divine. Through pattern, ornamentation and structure, art reflects our desire and need to find our own interpretation of the sacred.

It took about a year to create this project from concept to completion, with major production in the last six months. At times it was very challenging and physically painful, but in the end the experience was rewarding and I learned a lot.

I’d like to thank my assistants who helped me make this happen @hotdog441 @kat_hardi_art @e.putnam_arts it would not have been possible without you!! And @untcvad for granting me a Flagship grant to hire them.

2024 has been one of the longest years on record for me, yet at the same time it feels like it's ending waaaay too soon. So much has happened, but above all, this was a year of culture and art. I saw incredible art both overseas with an amazing group of people whom I have grown to call great friends, and in the country while traveling with my family for whom I am very grateful for. I saw amazing movies, read incredible books, and experienced some incredible theater. I'm kinda scared shitless for what 2025 holds, but for now I know that 2024 gifted me some incredible experienced and friends.

today is my last full day in venice and i’m just so beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to travel here with this group of people. i feel like this study abroad was a trip i was meant to go on. the connections i formed with the people on this trip will forever be in my heart. the sights, art and culture i got to see and experience were one of the most phenomenal. this trip made me realize how much of the world i need to see and experience. i feel like i will forever chase the beauty i saw here everywhere i go.

i love you venice <3
