Chagall painting collage by @eugenia_zoloto ❤️ “ I love Chagall not only for his bright colors, textures, compositions, but also for the theme of love. Adore that moment he often paints a couple, not only his muse, but the feelings between them two. So personal, so cute” #chagall #marcchagall #stopmotionanimation #stopmotionvideo #paperart #papercutting #collageart #artdolls #stopmotionlovers #art #artleove

Before Marc Chagall filled his paintings with floating lovers, wedding celebrations, and dreamlike scenes of devotion, he met Bella Rosenfeld in his hometown of Vitebsk. Chagall later described their first encounter as immediate and transformative. Bella became his wife, muse, closest confidante, and the inspiration behind many of the most recognizable images in modern art. Throughout their marriage, Bella appeared again and again in Chagall’s work. She floats above city rooftops in Above the Town, embraces the artist in Birthday, and inhabits countless scenes of love, family, and celebration. Their daughter Ida later became one of the most important figures in preserving Chagall’s career, helping manage his affairs and safeguard his work after the family fled Europe during World War II. Marc Chagall never painted himself as just a man. 🕊️ He painted himself as a dream — blue faces, floating memories, and a lifetime of color looking back. Young dreamer. Working artist. Old man who never came down from the sky. “I am a painter of the dream.” Which version of Chagall stays with you? #MarcChagall #Chagall #ModernArt #SelfPortrait #DreamArt

The love that never left the canvas. 🎨💙 Young Marc Chagall and Bella, smiling in the studio, palette still wet. Then time dissolves — and there he is decades later, white-haired, a book in his lap, Vava’s arms around him by the window. Same man. Two great loves. One life that kept painting both of them into the sky. Bella Rosenfeld was his first muse, the girl from Vitebsk he met in 1909 and never stopped floating with in his paintings. She died in 1944. In 1952 he married Valentina “Vava” Brodsky. She stayed with him until the end in 1985. The video doesn’t choose between them. It just lets one photograph breathe into the other. Watch it once for the faces. Watch it again for how quietly the room changes around them. Who do you see first — the young couple or the old one? 👇 #MarcChagall #BellaRosenfeld #VavaChagall #ArtHistory #LoveAndArt Surrealism Chagall
