🚁💧 Quand un Chinook pompe directement dans un lac… ce n’est pas un Bambi Bucket ! Cette impressionnante vidéo montre un CH-47 Chinook équipé d’un système de lutte contre les incendies bien différent de celui que l’on connaît le plus souvent. Contrairement aux hélicoptères utilisant un Bambi Bucket suspendu sous élingue, cette version est équipée d’un réservoir ventral (“belly tank”) rempli grâce à un snorkel, une pompe d’aspiration qui plonge directement dans le plan d’eau. 💦 En seulement 30 à 40 secondes, le Chinook peut embarquer jusqu’à 11 000 litres d’eau, soit près de deux Canadair CL-415 en une seule rotation ! Quels sont les avantages ? ✅ Pas de charge suspendue : meilleure stabilité et moins de traînée. ✅ Transit plus rapide entre le point d’eau et le feu. ✅ Largage extrêmement précis, y compris en vol stationnaire ou à très faible vitesse, grâce à des portes commandées permettant d’adapter le débit d’eau selon les besoins. ✅ Une capacité d’emport exceptionnelle, idéale pour traiter rapidement les foyers les plus importants. En contrepartie, cette technique nécessite un plan d’eau suffisamment accessible pour permettre le vol stationnaire et l’immersion du snorkel. Le Bambi Bucket, suspendu sous une longue élingue, reste souvent plus polyvalent lorsque les points d’eau sont plus difficiles d’accès. Voir un hélicoptère larguer près de 11 tonnes d’eau avec une telle précision est tout simplement spectaculaire. Le CH-47 Chinook, tout comme d’autres hélicoptères lourds tels que le Mi-26, démontre qu’une très grande capacité d’emport peut constituer un atout majeur face aux mégafeux. 🚁 THEY TIED DOWN A CHINOOK… THEN THIS HAPPENED. 😳 Why would engineers deliberately tie down a massive Chinook helicopter? The answer is ground resonance—a dangerous vibration phenomenon that can occur when a helicopter is on the ground. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔄 WHAT’S HAPPENING? A helicopter’s rotor system, landing gear, and airframe can all experience vibration. Under certain conditions, these vibrations can interact and reinforce each other. When that happens, the shaking can grow rapidly. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⚠️ WHY DOES IT MATTER? Ground resonance can become extremely severe in a short amount of time. En este fragmento del documental sobre el BHELTRA V, disponible en mi canal de YouTube Terram Marem Aer, acompañamos al Sargento Primero Sevillano, instructor de CH-47 Chinook del Ejército de Tierra, con una amplia trayectoria en operaciones dentro y fuera de España, durante una de las fases de instrucción del entonces Sargento López, quien realizaba su curso de conversión al Chinook tras completar su formación en el HE.135. Hoy, el Sargento López ya forma parte plenamente de la unidad y opera el CH-47 Chinook como piloto de primera línea. El BHELTRA V representa una de las unidades más versátiles y dinámicas del Ejército de Tierra, preparada para responder a cualquier circunstancia: desde la lucha contra incendios forestales, rescates y ayuda en emergencias, hasta el transporte logístico de tropas, vehículos y material, tanto en territorio nacional como en operaciones internacionales.
