Meet the COMP Studios Fall Residents - Rivkah Simcha Rivkah Simcha (she/they) is a mixed media artist, mother, and performer. In her visual arts practice, she uses paint, ink, collage, printmaking, and sculpture - occasionally all at once: “Sometimes a painting just needs other media to make it feel like it’s saying what I want it to say.” During her residency at COMP Studios, Rivkah is creating a series called “Unmaking My Chains,” focusing on the growth she has been experiencing as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Much of the work explores themes of surrender and the importance of emotional sobriety. In additional to visual art, Rivkah writes, sings, and performs with @thevelvetnoose, an avant-garde theatre troupe (and if you want to see Rivkah’s performance art, check out The Velvet Noose’s Fringe show this Saturday). View “Unmaking My Chains” and meet Rivkah during the COMP Studios opening reception on First Friday, October 3, or during open studio hours on Saturdays October 4 and 11. #FirstFridayROC #COMPStudios
