Meet the COMP Studios Fall Residents - Rivkah Simcha
Rivkah Simcha (she/they) is a mixed media artist, mother, and performer. In her visual arts practice, she uses paint, ink, collage, printmaking, and sculpture - occasionally all at once: “Sometimes a painting just needs other media to make it feel like it’s saying what I want it to say.”
During her residency at COMP Studios, Rivkah is creating a series called “Unmaking My Chains,” focusing on the growth she has been experiencing as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Much of the work explores themes of surrender and the importance of emotional sobriety.
In additional to visual art, Rivkah writes, sings, and performs with @thevelvetnoose, an avant-garde theatre troupe (and if you want to see Rivkah’s performance art, check out The Velvet Noose’s Fringe show this Saturday).
