The Lovers card represents deep partnerships, harmony, alignment of personal values, and significant life choices. Embodies a powerful bond, mutual respect, and soulmate connections. It applies to romantic partners, close friends, or family. Marks a crucial fork in the road where decisions must align with your personal integrity and core values.. Represents the integration of opposing forces within yourself, such as balancing logic with emotion. And remember: There are no other halves because we are already one, whole, perfect, and complete being just as we are. Someone once said, ‘An artist spends their whole life painting the same painting.’ I like that idea. I enjoy thinking about my work from that perspective. It feels as if my best painting already exists somewhere. I just haven’t painted it yet. Maybe that’s why I keep searching for it, exploring it, trying to remember it. Each new piece feels related to the last, similar, but never exactly the same. Like a police sketch, every attempt gets a little closer to the image I’m trying to capture, but I’m not quite there yet. #lowbrow #magicrealism #distopianart #scifiartwork #alvaronaddeo

The children are asleep, the dog is nearby, the shelves are filled with books and supplies, and there is nowhere you need to rush. I love the idea of a place like this because it seems to switch off everything unnecessary. When the outside noise becomes quieter, it is much easier to notice what is happening within you. Each of us can have an inner place of safety to return to, even during difficult periods. Sometimes it begins simply by stopping the constant mental rush toward the future and coming back to the moment that is already happening. Our state often starts here: with the ability to slow down, feel grounded within ourselves, and not let the outside world completely decide how we feel. Polichinelle was a project of Bubu and me. It started when Bubu sent me a mix cd and I fell in love with all the music on it (in fact, not just with the music). So we started making tunes together; all the sounds and flavours we loved, playfully combined. I made the video for Dans Ma Poitrine in 2007, in my final year of art school, and it was a study for my graduation project: a 45 min surrealist silent movie with a soundtrack by Bubu and me. It was the birth of Dream Society. I was very much into Man Ray, Rene Clair et al, which you can clearly see. I just started learning to make videos using a computer - before I had only ever done old fashioned beta cam editing. I still love this dreamy track. My cats, still kittens then, are on it. I can still see that room, a colourful kaleidoscope hidden in a flat block in Battersea, a green kitchen with fish tiles, bunting everywhere as every day was worth celebrating. Hats and wigs everywhere, fake beards by the door. Sometimes we would slide down the stairs on a mattress. In the kitchen, we cooked not only food but dreams; made videos, ran a record label, organised exuberant mini parties and came up with a museum of ideas. I woke up this morning with a broken heart … the quiet kind, the kind that sits in your chest like a stone. So I did what any reasonable person does … I went to find my whale. She was right where she always is, underneath everything, gliding slow and unhurried like she had never once doubted that things work out. I floated above her and I thought, I want to be more like that. And somewhere between the cold water and her impossible calm, something in me loosened just enough to remember … the biggest blessings take the longest to arrive. That’s not cruelty. From thinking about your idea, bringing it to a sketch, and mixing the right colors, to making the final decisions that allow your work to say what you want to say or feel the way you want it to feel. This is a special piece for me because it is my invitation to enter into my imaginary garden—a seemingly balanced space full of abundant fruit trees that represent important memories in my life and remind me of the people I love and the places I once called home. When people saw this painting in person at @annazorinagallery, they felt that invitation to enter this imaginary world, and that is priceless to me. The sound of the waves, the wind tangled in my hair, the scent of salt in the air, and the sand beneath my feet… somehow, they make everything feel a little lighter. It feels as though the sea quietly embraces us, washing away the things we’ve carried for too long, and gently bringing us back to ourselves. I painted Queen of the Sea from that feeling — the quiet comfort and freedom I find in the ocean.
