🧶 Can the Repair Cafe fix Cameron’s jumper?! 👕 Group members Ritva and Katie have been at Shetland Islands Council’s climate festival inside the Clickimin. 🌍 Katie says the environmental impact of always buying new clothes is huge: “It’s fine to wear the same clothing for twenty years, and you can keep it going.” ☕️ The Repair Cafe aims to boost people’s skill level so they can keep their favourite jumpers, trousers and socks. It meets at Blyde Welcome in Lerwick on alternate Thursdays. 📺 Watch the video for more. Join the Sustainability Office at their one-stop-shop Clothing Swap and Repair Cafe. This is your chance to refresh your wardrobe and tune up broken items. The success of these events has resulted in diverting approximately 2300 lbs. of waste from landfills. Last weekend we visited the Detroit Repair Cafe at the Helen Moore Community Center! @detroitrepaircafe The volunteers work to fix our everyday items and extend their lifespan—they meet twice a month to help the community with repairs! With their help we can reduce the waste of our things ♻️

At the Traverse City Repair Café on Saturday over 17 community volunteers helped their neighbors fix almost 60 household items. It was a loud reminder that through community care, we are not as divided, isolated, or hopeless as they want us to think. Stay tuned for our next Repair Cafe with @notjustbooks this Spring! Thank you to everyone who helped us pull off our second ever Repair Café 🫶 #traversecity #repair #repaircafe #mend

Yesterday, we hosted a repair workshop in Parliament with students from a school in Hounslow as part of the Repair Cafe hosted by @restartproject and @backmarket 🔧🏛️ The UK is the 2nd worst e-waste producer per person on Earth, and is falling behind on the laws that could fix it. We want to make sure that the children we inspired with repair yesterday (and the 20,000 we have reached across the UK) are able to grow up in a world using the repair skills we have taught them. We delighted by how many enthusiastic MPs signed the declaration yesterday, and will keep pushing for the policies that our young fixers deserve 🔧💪 Thanks again to @restartproject, @backmarket and all the repair cafe representatives for making this event possible! #teamrepair #repair #learntorepair #learnathome #stem

Did you know we have over 130 Repair Cafes across Wales which are completely free to access. You will find skilled volunteers on hand to help fix items such as clothing, household goods, jewellery, ornaments, electrics and bikes. .�I took my son’s bike, which had a broken brake and a hobby horse in dire need of repair to the Repair Cafe in Cathays and both were fixed by lovely volunteers. This is such a fantastic way to reduce waste, lower costs & prevent items going to landfill while also bringing the community together. � This isn’t the first time we have accessed our local repair cafe and it won’t be the last.� If we all make one simple change, together, such as repair and reuse, we can make a real positive impact. � #ClimateActionWales #repaircafewales #cardiff #southwales #gweithreduarhinsawdd
