Mum life means planning healthy meals that actually last 🍎 You buy fresh fruits and vegetables, wash them, prep them, and plan the week… only to see them go soft a few days later. Fruits naturally release ripening gases inside the fridge, and when those gases build up, produce can spoil faster than expected. Fruithero is designed to help absorb those gases and support longer lasting, fresher fruit and vegetables at home. If keeping produce fresh longer and reducing food waste matters to you, this is worth knowing. #Fruithero #BusyMumLife #FruitStorage #FreshProduce #FoodWaste
One habit that makes a big difference in my kitchen: I always wash my produce the moment I get home from the market. I soak it in a solution of 10 cups of water + ¼ cup distilled white vinegar for about 2 minutes, then rinse and let everything air dry completely on a kitchen towel. Once dry, I store it in mason jars with a paper towel at the bottom to absorb excess moisture. It helps remove mold spores and bacteria and keeps produce fresh much longer. Save this for later — and send it to someone who’s always throwing away spoiled produce. #KitchenTips #FoodStorage #HealthyKitchen #MauriceCreates #HomeCooking
Your freezer is a nutritional time machine. 🧊⏰ I know — that sounds wild. But hear me out. The moment a vegetable is picked, it starts losing nutrients. That "fresh" spinach at your supermarket? It's been traveling for days. By the time it reaches your plate, it can have lost up to 100% of its Vitamin C. 😱 Meanwhile, frozen vegetables are flash-frozen within minutes of harvest. This locks in peak nutrition — no travel time, no shelf time, no nutrient loss. Here's what the science actually says: 🥦 Frozen spinach and peas often have MORE vitamins than the "fresh" ones sitting in your fridge for 5 days ❄️ Flash-freezing (called IQF — Individual Quick Freezing) halts the enzymes that break down nutrients instantly 💰 Frozen produce is up to 50% cheaper — and eliminates the "I forgot it in the fridge" waste guilt 🌍 It also dramatically reduces global food waste This doesn't mean fresh is bad. It means frozen is far better than you've been told. Use fresh for same-day eating. Use frozen for everything else. ✅ 💬 Team Fresh or Team Frozen? Drop your answer below — I want to know! 📌 Save this before your next grocery run. 🔁 Send this to someone who feels guilty buying frozen — they need to see this. #FrozenFood #KitchenHacks #GroceryHacks #MealPrep #BudgetMeals #HealthyEating #FoodWaste #NutritionFacts #FoodScience #FreshVsFrozen #HealthyLiving #SmartShopping

🍎 Why Cleaning Fruits & Vegetables is SO Important Most people think rinsing with water is enough. But here’s the reality… 1️⃣ Pesticides & chemical residue Produce can carry residues from farming — even organic produce can be exposed to spray drift or soil contamination. Many fruit and veggie washes are designed to help remove pesticides, waxes, dirt, and handling residue that plain water may not fully eliminate. 2️⃣ Wax coatings trap “the bad stuff” Some fruits (like apples, cucumbers, peppers) are coated with food-grade wax to improve shelf life and appearance. That wax can trap dirt and residues — which is why specialized washes are formulated to break down water-resistant wax layers. 3️⃣ Bacteria & handling contamination Think about the journey your produce takes: farm → truck → warehouse → grocery store → shoppers’ HANDS → your cart Produce washes may help remove bacteria, soil, and impurities from the surface so you’re starting with cleaner food at home. 4️⃣ You’re already investing in healthy food If you’re spending money on fresh produce for your health… it just makes sense to protect that investment by properly cleaning it before eating. 🌱 Why a Produce Wash Can Be a Great Choice ✔ Helps remove more residue than water alone ✔ Breaks down wax + surface contaminants ✔ We have a plant-based / food-contact safe formula ✔ Leaves no taste or odor when rinsed properly ✔ Quick step that can give peace of mind In this day and age we have to control what we can and with the price of fruits and veggies — our wash gives me two weeks in the fridge of fresh! #CleanEatingTips #HealthyLivingDaily #FoodSafetyFirst #EatCleanLifestyle #NonToxicLiving
A few easy tricks to make your food last longer, save money, and keep your fridge stocked with fresh ingredients all week! Tip 1: Keep stem veggies (like asparagus, celery, and spring onions) standing in 1–2 inches of water. Change the water every couple of days to keep them crisp. Tip 2: Make berries last longer by removing stems, soaking them briefly in water with a splash of vinegar, drying gently, and storing in an airtight container in the fridge. Tip 3: Wrap herbs in a damp towel and pop them in a sealed container to lock in moisture and flavor. Tip 4: Chop root veggies (like carrots and parsnips) into chunks, cover with water in a jar, and store in the fridge to keep them fresh and snappy. Tip 5: For leafy greens, store with a dry paper towel to absorb excess moisture and keep them crunchy. Bonus tip: Keep your fridge organized—put older produce up front so it gets used first, and stash long-lasting items in the back. #food #foodstorage #zerowaste
@rawweek prep tip that keeps produce fresh longer. I’ve been prepping for the @rawweek challenge with this method for about 2 years now. I’ve noticed a real difference, especially with berries. They last longer and hold up better in the fridge. I stopped using the vinegar and baking soda method because they cancel each other out, so it wasn’t doing much for actually cleaning produce. Now I use water and vinegar instead. Vinegar stays acidic, which helps loosen surface residue and can slow mold growth. 3-4 parts water + 1 cup of vinegar (the produce doesn’t taste like vinegar). SIDE NOTE: I don’t prep for the entire week. I prep about three days at a time, and with prepping twice a week, I don’t have issues with food waste. @rawweek starts tomorrow and you can join at any time this week. Comment “raw week” for more details.

How produce is handled matters more than most shoppers realize. 🥬 Many large grocery operations use chemical sanitizers or chlorine rinses during produce processing. At Clark’s Nutrition, we take a simpler approach and use reverse osmosis purified water to clean our fruits and vegetables. 💧 Reverse osmosis filtration removes impurities from the water while avoiding additional chemical sprays on the produce itself. It’s one of the ways we keep our produce department aligned with natural grocery standards. 🌿 Fresh food should be handled with care from delivery to display. For us, that starts with keeping the process as clean and simple as possible. 🍎
