Balanced training is the way to go, simply because life is not all positive reinforcement nor is it all negative reinforcement. Here at Bear Kennels we find solutions tailored specifically to you and your pup. If you’re interested in private training or board and train send us a DM, Email or click the link in our bio! #bearkennels #itsdeeperthandogs
🚫 Positive-only training can unintentionally increase aggression when: • Dogs are never taught boundaries • Stress signals are ignored • Unwanted behaviors are only avoided, not addressed • Dogs are bribed instead of guided ✅ Balanced training creates clarity and confidence by: • Teaching dogs what to do, not just what to avoid • Using clear communication through body language, movement, and structure • Motivating dogs to engage and think, not just react • Providing fair corrections alongside meaningful rewards Dogs learn best when expectations are clear, leadership is calm, and communication makes sense to them. This isn’t about being harsh. It’s about being effective, honest, and fair. When we inspire dogs, challenge them, and communicate in a way they understand, we don’t suppress behavior—we shape it. That’s how you build trust. That’s how you build control. That’s how you build a balanced dog. 🐾
📍 Balanced training. Real communication. Professional oversight. - Dogs don’t just play together — they communicate, negotiate, correct, and teach each other every single interaction. - At A1K9® Academy, we believe healthy dog-to-dog communication is a critical part of balanced training. When dogs are allowed to appropriately correct one another in a controlled environment, under the supervision of experienced professional trainers, they learn boundaries faster, respect space better, and develop real social skills that can’t be replicated by humans alone. - The key? Structure, timing, and leadership. Not chaos. Not “figure it out.” Guided exposure where dogs are carefully matched, closely monitored, and supported — stepping in when needed and allowing communication when it’s appropriate. - This is how dogs learn impulse control, respect, confidence, and neutrality around other dogs. This is how you build stable, social dogs — not just obedient ones. - Welcome to A1K9® Academy 🐾 & Happy New Year 🎆.
Balanced training means he can spin both directions through the front without hesitation❤️ ✨ I remember when i had to guide every inch of that spin with a treat, especially going to the left side… now it’s just a cue..most of the time. We are far from perfect, but so much improvement! •vest: @mochis_creations_ Code: MCKODA Training Pouch: @Akracreations Code: WIGGLEBUTTKODA • • #dog #dogs #dogsofinstagram #australianshepherd #dogtraining
Compulsion trainers hiding under the balanced umbrella: I’m talking to you. Food/rewards are a huge part of balanced training. Trust me, we can tell that when you don’t. . . . . .

Balanced Training explained Positive reinforcement rewards behaviors we want more of. Negative consequences are followed by behaviors we want less of. #dogtraining #dogtrainer #obedience #balancedtraining #positivereinforcement

Balanced training isn't about punishment It's about communicating effectively with your dog #dogtraining
“Balanced training” gets a bad rap…mostly because people don’t actually know what it means. It’s not a style. It’s not a personality. It’s a complete set of tools, rewards and corrections, applied with skill and intention to get the best outcome for the dog. The problem is a lot of trainers call themselves balanced while barely touching rewards at all. That’s not balanced. They are just hijacking a term. That’s why I prefer the term coined by my friend @forrestmicke - “Complete Dog Training.” A truly complete dog trainer shows up with the full toolbox and uses whatever the dog actually needs.
