THE 6-INCH CHEAT ⚡️ Most guys get thrown out before they even take a step. Why? Because they’re obsessed with the baseline. If you’re standing in the path, you’re giving the first baseman and shortstop a direct lane for the tag. Shift your line 6 inches toward the grass: 1️⃣ Forces a longer reach for the tag. 2️⃣ Now you're aiming for the back corner of 2nd Base Follow for more baseball speed. 🚦 #baseball #baserunning #baseballspeed #baseballparent #highschoolbaseball

Rounding the bag is a make or break skill when it comes to elite base running & if you want to stretch your shallow gap hits into extra base hits, this is the way to shave your running time down. 👏🏼 🏃🏼‍♀️ Save for later!! 📚 Here’s the truth: the old school tight QUESTION MARK❓takes TOO MUCH TIME ⏱️. You want a slight banana peel 🍌 from home to 1st that turns the square 🟥 base path into a smooth, curved, round @ 1st so you can keep your speed up at 100% while heading to second! When reaching for a double (vs a triple or home run), after your banana peel round at 1st you want to straighten out your path as straight as you can going into 2nd 😎 What questions do you have? We are here for them 😊 #softball #baserunning #fastpitch #softballcamp softballcoach

Most stolen bases come down to one step. Efficiency on the bases is everything. Use this technique to create a direct path to the next base, eliminate extra steps, and start stealing more bags. #baseballtraining #athletedevelopment #personaltrainer #baserunning #playerdevelopment

It really just depends on the athlete and how well their timing is as well as their jumps. I used to start behind the bag up until college because in college, I was timed multiple times and was always a little bit quicker in front. I do feel regardless of how I started, I was still able to steal many bases because my timing was spot on both ways. In the full video I go into detail on why I preferred to start in front but the main reason was I felt stronger having my left foot completely grounded and my right foot utilizing the bag to push off which made my jumps better. You can find the full video on my YouTube channel: When stealing in softball is it quicker to start in the front of the bag or behind? #softball #fastpitch #fastpitchsoftball #baserunning

In 2022 I caused controversy (over on tik tok)!😅 I'm curious, how do you take your leads at 1b? My take, it's wasted movement to rock back then forward🤷🏾‍♀️. When leading off, 1st 3 steps are the most important to get a good jump, so to achieve that staying low to the ground with body and posture facing in the direction you want to go will help. If you have issues with timing pitchers release, practice your leads when you see pitcher warming up before game and in between innings! I love talking base running! Just because you're fast doesn't mean your a great base runner. Base running was an area I always had to improve and continue to be a student of the game #softball #baserunning #watleygamechangers

Most runners take the same lead at second base every time… and that’s a mistake. Your lead should change depending on the situation: 0 outs → Stay on a straight line toward 3B ready to react on a ground ball. 1 out → One step behind the base to create a better scoring angle. 2 outs → Two steps behind the base because you’re going home on any base hit. Situational baseball wins games. ⚾ Do you teach your players this? #baseball #baserunning #baseballiq #baseballtraining #baseballcoach youthbaseball baseballtips baseballplayers baseballlife baseballdrills
