March 26–28, we continue celebrating our 125th anniversary season with Bartók, Rózsa, and Brahms!
This program marks the DSO’s first performance of Miklós Rózsa’s Violin Concerto since its premiere on January 15, 1956, with renowned violinist Jascha Heifetz and conductor Walter Hendl. Now, rising star and 2024 @sphinxorg Competition winner @amarynolmedaviolin brings this remarkable work back to the stage alongside Music Director @fabioluisiconductor.

You’re in for a surprise at this month’s @dallassymphony classical concerts – starting tonight! Performances of Brahms’ Double Concerto, Alexi Kenney Plays Barber, and Bartók, Rózsa & Brahms will begin a little differently than usual.
@dallassymphony excited to introduce a new idea from Music Director @fabioluisiconductor : “surprise” opening works. Each of these concerts will begin with a piece that hasn’t been advertised anywhere in advance – not even in your program books.
You won’t have any context on the composer, when the music was written, or any historical background before you hear it. As Maestro Luisi puts it, “The thought behind this idea is to approach music in a very candid, very pure way. We invite listeners to just enjoy the music and allow themselves to be carried away by it.”
Last time I came to Istanbul with @kremeratabaltica we were stopped in the middle of our rehearsal to be told that the concert wouldn’t happen in the evening : it was the beginning of COVID first lockdown... What a blessing to come back 6 years after with these fabulous musicians, in a program involving Baltic pieces for the string ensemble as well as an orchestration of Bach’s famous Ciaccona, Bach Concerto F Minor, Mozart Concerto K449 and my own set of Variations on Mozart’s « Alla Turca » finale of K331 Piano sonata !
Istanbul is a city I personally adore, an inexhaustible crossroad of cultures bursting with energy. Many thanks to our audience who welcomed us very warmly !
