What goes into flexibility training? 👇🏼 ✨ Finding the right method for YOU: Every body is different. Some people are naturally bendy but need to build strength. Others are stronger, but that strength can make them tighter. Most of us are a mix, and different areas of the body respond differently. That’s why you can’t compare your journey to anyone else’s! For me, Alixa Flexibility has been a game changer in my contortion, acrobatics, and flexibility journey — and I’ve been training for almost 20 years! In my classes I teach @alixaflexibility because it truly works for all bodies. It’s progressive and safe — you won’t be pushed into advanced skills until your body is ready. That’s how long-term progress is built. ✨ Staying consistent — 5x a week Like anything, consistency is the secret. Stretching once a week won’t get you to your dream skills. If you want chest stands, bendy bridges, or even solid splits, it takes regular practice. These positions should never feel painful, impossible, or out of reach — if they do, you’re training the wrong way. ✨ Embracing the long game Flexibility is a lifelong journey. A year, two years, five years down the road, you’ll look back and see how far you’ve come. There’s always a new skill to unlock and something new to learn about your body. That’s what makes the journey so rewarding. I’ve been certified in @alixaflexibility up to Module 5 for 4+ years and use the exercises in all my flexibility + contortion classes. It keeps my students safe, challenged, and moving toward realistic goals. Virtual training isn’t for everyone, but if you’re committed, there’s SO much you can learn and achieve. 📩 Send me a message or 🌐 visit www.BendBalanceTrain.com for more info on my online coaching 🥨 ———————————————————— 🥨 Bend | Contortion Training 🥨 🤸🏻‍♀️ Balance | Handstand Training 🤸🏻‍♀️ 💪🏼 Train | Private Training 💪🏼 #handstandstrength #inversionpractice #calisthenicsgirls #flexibilitytraining #trainconsistently
WHY MOST PEOPLE GET IT WRONG 🫠👇🏽🔥 They think you need to have a certain body type. They think flexibility is either something you have or don’t have. They think holding static stretches will make them more flexible and then say “it didn’t work” or “I’m not flexible enough” when it doesn’t 🤦🏽‍♀️ That’s what I thought too. So I kept stretching. And even though I was consistent, my progress was slow, uneven, and unpredictable. Some days I felt close. Other days I felt completely blocked. What I didn’t understand yet was this: The splits are NOT about being naturally flexible. They’re about earning range through TRAINING. Just like you would train for bigger muscles, you have to increase the load on your tissues over time to make them flexible. It’s strength in deep positions. It’s teaching your nervous system that the position is safe. It’s progressive loading. It’s patience. This isn’t my opinion, it’s SCIENCE 🧬 When your body feels strong and supported in a range, it allows more of it. When it doesn’t, it protects you by tightening. That’s why random stretching feels inconsistent — there’s no structure for your body to adapt to. Inside The Splits Project, we train for the splits like a skill. There’s progression. There’s programming. There’s a clear path forward — especially for beginners who’ve already tried stretching and felt stuck. If you’re frustrated because you’ve “been stretching for months,” I promise you — it’s not a flexibility issue. It’s a training issue. Ready to stop guessing and start training? Let’s do this!!! 👏🏽 Comment: SPLITS
Strength helps. Flexibility helps. Both feel even better 😅🌝
How do you become more flexible? 👇👇 Most people think they become more flexible by stretching more, but that’s not true. A step back: passive flexibility is the range you can reach with external help (gravity, a strap, pulling,…) and it’s usually deeper than your active flexibility, the range you can reach by using only your muscles to reach it. Flexibility increases when your muscles can control a range (bringing your leg up for example, and being able to hold it there without external help) AND your nervous system feels safe in that position. What does this means? That to become more flexible you need: Active work 👉 builds strength Stretch 👉 builds tolerance When your active flexibility range gets closer to your passive flexibility range, that is when your flexibility becomes: safe, long lasting, always accesible (no need of long warm up) and gradually unlocks new depth. How much difference do you notice between your active and passive range? Do you need long warm up to be able to access deeper positions? #flexibility #mobility #flexibilitygoals #yogainspo #fold
Try this middle splits drill routine. A sequence of intentional drills to prepare, activate and support the opening. Not stretching to collapse, but building the conditions for space. If you want to practice flexibility through adapted, follow-along routines, join my online studio. To explore middle splits as a process, not a destination. To build real strength in the hips, adductors & glutes. To create space with control and awareness. To soften where there is tension, and support where there is fear. To understand how middle splits are built, step by step. Through drills, precision & consistency. Through presence rather than pushing. A practice to feel, not to perform. To progress at your own rhythm, guided, supported, embodied. To let flexibility emerge from stability, not from strain. Classes in 🇫🇷 & 🇬🇧 Come practice with me 🤍 Link in bio ✨
I wish more people understood this about flexibility training 👇 Cutting corners doesn’t get you there faster. It gets you injured. The slow way is actually the fast way — because it builds solid habits, real strength, and control that lasts. In contortion, hips first. Then strength to support that flexibility. Then shoulders and upper back. If you jump straight to skills like cobra or elbow stands, you’re skipping the entire foundation. And that’s where problems start. Train the right way: work with a coach who actually understands this — and who can physically do the work themselves. If you don’t do it, you don’t fully understand it. I’m currently looking for my next candidate for my online contortion program. It’s a commitment — but it’s worth it. You’ll: • build strong, healthy training habits • understand why you’re doing what you’re doing • and yes… earn a skill or two along the way 😉 BONUS: Free, exclusive access to all my compression + handstand classes while you’re in the program — because proper support matters, and I want you training at the highest level possible. Passive stretching might get you into a split. 👉🏼 Active flexibility lets you own the split. That’s the difference between flexibility that looks good on the floor… and flexibility you can actually use in the air. Active flexibility builds: • Strength at your end range • Control through transitions • Better lines • More resilient joints • Flexibility that sticks Train your splits so you can control them, not collapse into them 😉 Outfit @oneractive 💜
One of the most common questions I recieve is "how long will it take me to learn the splits? The question makes sense, of course! We want to know if our goals are realistic and worth the time commitment we put in!. But like any skill, progress is individual & I can’t give you an accurate answer without knowing you, your body, and your training approach. And honestly, fixating on a timeline distracts you from what *actually* matters: Learning proper flexibility foundations and showing up consistently! I'll be honest, flexibility isn’t as simple as influencers make it seem & I always want to keep it real with you. It rquires a personlized approach in order to see the best results, and this is exactly what my teachings are based in. If you want to train smart instead of just stretching more, comment FLEX and I’ll send you a link to my online flexibility course (& a lucky discount code!) . . . . . . . #flexibilitytips #FlexibilityTraining #stretchingtips #flexibility #splitsprogress
YOU DIDN’T MISS YOUR CHANCE 🤍👇🏽 You can build flexibility at any age & (at 38) im proving it. Your body is still capable of learning new ranges, building strength, and moving differently than it ever has before 💪🏽 Progress will probably feel slower than you want. And that’s okay. Flexibility isn’t a race! I’m learning splits at 38, step by step, and sharing the real process so you can see what’s actually possible when you don’t quit on yourself.
