😍 We’ll never forget Westcave 💚 This is Ella fulfilling her word for the year: EXPLORE We recommend everyone visit the Texas hill country hidden gem @westcave — a short drive west of Austin. We learned about the changing landscape over hundreds of thousands of years, as altered layers of the earth opened up this stunning canyon with cave and grotto and pure majesty. So fortunate that such beauty could be absorbed during a short hike led by a wonderful guide. It’s a private preserve that offers the guided canyon hike and an open grasslands hike. And Ella’s dance friend Bella from home in FL was visiting family and got to spend this day with us. We are outdoorsy people (allergies be darned!) and this is the first of hopefully plenty of excursions to take in Texas’ natural beauty during our stay for Ella’s filming. 💧The trickle will be more of a waterfall in wetter times. Texas is affected by drought right now, with burn bans in effect. 🔥 During this hike, a brush fire erupted west of us, with the smoke and ash reaching us by the time we finished a late lunch. We went to bed with the fire at 8,600 acres and 0% contained, and with fears of Southern California devastation. The Grotto, Tobermory is one of Ontario’s gems. So glad we decided to take this last minute road trip to enjoy the last bit of summer here in Canada. Your boy, Bao, is an adventure dog too 😊🐾❤️ there’s so much more in Tobermory we haven’t checked out yet. We will be back! Here are some tips when traveling and hiking to the Grotto, Tobermory: - pack light snacks and water (water bowl) - bring a carrier if you have a small dog - pack waste bags - wear comfortable or hiking shoes - wear a hat and sunscreen or UV protection clothing - pack a towel and water shoes if you want to swim in the water - go on a weekday or early morning to avoid the crowds - book your time slot well in advance - there are different hiking trail options (we picked the moderate trail) - remember to sit back and take it all in! . . . . . . . . . . . The world is insanely beautiful ✨⬇️ . Side note - the Blue Grotto costs €14 to enter, and is a separate cost from any boat tour you do! They pick you up either from land or from your boat in these canoes to take you in. Entrance is dependent on weather and tide level, and in the summertime wait times to enter can be long so be prepared for both those things 😌 And lastly: some things are touristy for a reason - it would be a shame not to share something only for that reason.
