“What do you do with the scrap paper?” Honestly? Sometimes I just play. These dancing figures started with paper waste, which I transformed into a paper pulp painting, and somewhere along the way, I decided to make them dance. The painting is still a work in progress, but I love those moments when I stop thinking about what the artwork should become and simply start playing with the possibilities. These figures are inspired by Indian classical dance, and they already had so much movement in them. So I thought, why not bring that movement to life? And that’s how this little stop motion happened. This is one of the things I love about working with paper. Something that was once considered waste can become pulp, then a painting, and then, with a little imagination, something completely unexpected. From paper waste to paper pulp painting to a little stop motion. For me, exploring paper isn’t always about knowing exactly where I’m going. Sometimes it’s about following a little curiosity, having fun with the work and seeing where it takes me. And this time, it took me dancing. Make paper clay from toilet paper 🧻 or any other kind of paper. I love using paper pulp but it can often be brittle. Adding wood glue and joint compound to your paper pulp turns it into paper clay! It’s such a fun and easy material to make and work with. #diy #paperclay #makersgonnamake #handmade #instagood
#ad Turned all this paper clutter into fruit sculptures with a little creativity + @getrocketbook! I just moved and you KNOW I couldn’t resist keeping the excess packaging for future crafts since I love reusing things. I started by planning the material list and sketching fruit shapes (psst…Rocketbook’s pages are both erasable and reusable). Then I used tape and paper to form the armatures. Now for the messy part: I headed up to my roof and covered them in a mix of paper pulp and plaster. Once dry, I painted them with leftover house paint. Lastly, while that dried, I scanned my page using the Rocketbook App so I could reference it for an upcoming workshop I’m teaching, then erased it to make space for future ideas. Shout out to my fellow chaotic creatives making big crafts happen in small apartments! #Rocketbook #OrganizeYourWorld

Did you know you can make your own clay from paper with just 3 simple ingredients? 😍 It’s so easy to make. Part 1: Make Paper Pulp • Tear newspaper/cardboard into small pieces. • Soak in hot water overnight. • Blend with water until smooth. • Add more water if it’s too thick. (A paper shredder makes prep easier!) • Squeeze out most of the water using a strainer or fabric. Part 2: Make Paper Mache Clay Mix • 4 cups paper pulp (squeezed dry) • 1 cup white PVA glue • 2 cups joint compound/wall filler/wall putty • 2 tbsp oil (optional) for longer use You can always adjust the ratios to achieve your preferred consistency. This is the ratio I use for most of my projects. Mix well and knead until the mixture no longer sticks to the container. Use within 2 days if stored at room temperature. When refrigerated, it can be stored for up to 2 weeks. You can either store the prepared paper pulp and mix the other ingredients in when you’re ready to use it, or mix everything together and refrigerate it. Perfect for sculpting, fine details, and can be sanded smooth once dry. Happy crafting! 😊 #papermache #dıy #homedecor #tutorial
Go into the Pace Paper studio with Kennedy Yanko as she creates the work for her exhibition, Without Gravity, which opens tomorrow night. By pouring, staining, and manipulating highly pigmented paper pulp, Yanko engaged papermaking with a deep sense of immediacy and physical intimacy — her hands submerged in water, moving with the rhythm of the studio’s hydraulic press, or enveloped by the material itself. Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 4 from 6-8pm at 536 West 22nd Street. The exhibition will be on view through October 4. Learn more about the work and find all of the exhibition details via the link in bio. _________ #PacePrints #536w22 #KennedyYanko #WithoutGravity @kennedyyanko Music by Samuel Kareem (@samuel.alles) © Kennedy Yanko

As legend would have it, our Featherweight paper’s distinctive hue was born when a pot of blue ink was accidentally knocked into the paper pulp. Refusing to let it go to waste, Frank produced a run of notebooks with blue paper, and it wasn’t long until Featherweight Blue became synonymous with Smythson. #BoundInBritain
After seeing some videos of this we wanted to try paper pulp painting and it was easier than we expected! Just using a blender and some simple paper making materials we got to make some really special artwork.
