Sharks circle the dock at sunset in crystal waters 🦈 🌍 Follow for more unseen destinations The Maldives represents one of the world's most extraordinary marine ecosystems, where tropical reefs and lagoons support some of the ocean's most iconic predators. This particular atoll destination is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and dramatic sunset vistas, created by the perfect convergence of Indian Ocean currents and coral architecture. Reef sharks—including blacktips and whitetips—inhabit these shallow lagoons naturally, drawn by abundant fish populations that thrive in the nutrient-rich waters. The contrast between the fiery sky and the glowing seabed creates an otherworldly environment where marine life exists in remarkable proximity to human activity. Shark encounters like this are increasingly common at resort house reefs throughout the Maldives, particularly during dusk feeding windows when visibility is low. Most reef sharks are harmless to humans and exhibit curious rather than aggressive behaviour around overwater bungalows. The best time to witness this natural phenomenon is during the dry season (November to March), when water clarity peaks and shark activity is most visible. Many Maldives resorts now offer night snorkelling and dock-side experiences specifically designed to observe sharks in their natural behaviour, making this a signature wildlife moment that defines the nation's marine tourism appeal. 📸 Thank you @cdkellyphoto for this incredible video 😊 #sharks #maldives #ocean #travel #explore
Meet the chainmailed Sharkman Kewin Chainmail suits are absolutely necessary when hand feeding and petting the Carribbean Reef Sharks off the coast of Freeport, Bahamas @kewinlorenzen and @cristinazenato have built up relationships with these sharks and perfected the interaction with them. they trust them to come close and get a petting or a hook removed but the sharks can also react quickly and blindly and therefore the chain suit is necessary Filmed while running our @insiderdivers shark expedition in Bahamas
🦈😱 Wait… there are sharks around your villa in Maldives? Absolutely. And honestly, that’s part of the magic! 😍 The reef sharks you see around Maldivian resorts are harmless and spotting them from your deck never gets old. But this time, it wasn’t a shark that caught our attention. While walking to lunch here in the @siyamworld we noticed a shadow gliding through the crystal-clear water below. Suddenly we were sprinting across the boardwalk, trying to get a better look. A few seconds later, a majestic eagle ray cruised right past our overwater villa. 🇲🇻✨ Moments like these are exactly why a Maldives holiday feels so special. Nature is literally on your doorstep. No boat trip, no excursion, no guide needed. Just grab a snorkel, climb down the ladder from your villa and explore. One minute you’re surrounded by colorful reef fish, the next you’re swimming alongside reef sharks, turtles or even an eagle ray. Imagine having your own private marine safari just steps from your bedroom. Could you see yourself jumping into the ocean straight from your villa? 🌊🦈 ❤️🇲🇻 #maldives #sharks

🚨 New Animals Alert 🚨 From humpback snappers to laced moray eels - there are so many new species who joined our Reef Sharks exhibit! 🐠 Try to spot them all on your next trip to the aquarium!
Please don’t make me hard sell this trip. I LOATHE selling shit. Galápagos. May 25–31, 2026. Just book a spot so I can stop posting about it. Small group. Boats between islands. Snorkeling and wildlife experiences with sea lions, reef sharks, giant tortoises, marine iguanas, and other creatures that look fake but probably aren’t. Fully guided, well-run by professionals (not me, thank gawd), and very much not a resort pretending to be nature. There are only a handful of spots left. Please book one and make this end? Link in bio for full details + booking. #Galapagos #EcuadorTravel #GroupTrip #WildlifeTravel #SmallGroupTravel

Early start to head to Yardie Creek — my first proper stretch behind the wheel, with brilliant blue seas peeking through white sand dunes all along the coastline. Sweet little rock wallabies dotted the cliffs on our boat tour. Bird nests, dramatic layered rock revealing tides and time, Indigenous fishing history, and fascinating medicinal flora. Turquoise Bay is ranked #2 best beach in the world — and I can see why. Impossibly clear water, snorkelling with turtles, reef sharks, and countless coloured fish. All of us giddy from duck diving and deep breathing. Salt-drenched and sun-crisped to perfection. Yardie Homestead was largely unpowered… but with the luxury of a concrete slab under our deck chairs. (Ooo… this is noice.) Kingo and I made world-class hamburgers with the lot. The fact I could barely get my mouth around it says everything about our commitment to dominating the trailer park meal game. Bright aqua bathrooms set against red dirt, with gangs of pink galahs socialising beside the vans. That night — a breathtaking sunset. Then hot chocolates in deck chairs, staring up at the stars. No one missing the city. Blissfully disconnected from tech — and reconnected to everything else. Even the kids’ sass… mysteriously disappeared. #exploreWA #NingalooReef #CoralBay #WesternAustralia
Such a fun dive with my favorite @nickbailey_spearfishing who spotted this grouper in a hole. We’d had trouble with reef sharks and I wasn’t giving this fish up. Epic day! #spearfishing #spearo #freediving #fishing #spearfish
On the move! This subadult lemon shark (Negaprion brevirostris) was spotted cruising along one of Bimini’s reefs! Although not typically thought of as reef sharks, lemon sharks have been observed swimming through shallow coral reefs, using them as underwater highways between mangroves and sand flats. _____________________________________ 📸: @wadewithwyatt ✍️: @tim.furst #research #education #conservation #bimini #biminisharklab
