Our latest shop mascot is pretty in pink—and a zigzagging powerhouse! 💕 This vintage Brother Model 210 Select-O-Matic IV was manufactured in Japan during the late 1950s or early 1960s, when Brother was helping perfect the heavy-duty, all-metal zigzag sewing machine. The blush-pink and cream finish reflects an era when sewing-machine design took inspiration from colourful kitchens, gleaming automobiles and the excitement of the Space Age. Even that shimmering Select-O-Matic dial feels like it belongs on the dashboard of a 1957 Chevy! Beautiful, precise and built to work, it’s easy to see why these vintage zigzag machines remain so loved by sewists and collectors. BARNHOG NOIR From the brochure: WILLCOX & GIBBS FELDLOCK “DUALFEED” MACHINE With Semi-Automatic Lubrication!! Simplicity in construction and the ease with which it can be operated are characteristic of the new Feldlock “Dualfeed” Machine. This is the ONLY feed-off-the-arm felling machine that will positively feed the upper and lower plies of material evenly for the entire length of the seam without assistance on the part of the operator. This feature eliminates one of the most frequent causes for rejection of finished garments, especially on the out and in-seam operations on the legs of overalls, work pants, etc., which require absolutely straight seams, free of wrinkles and distortion. Its unique construction encourages a natural and restful position for the operator when running the machine. This eliminates fatigue and promotes operator efficiency as a result of which better work is assured with less interruptions. My mom was a master seamstress, and I cannot tell you how many hours of my childhood were spent following her around fabric stores. She passed from cancer about 4.5 years ago, and whenever I find anything to do with sewing, it makes me think of her ❤️ #ThriftFinds #VintageFinds #Thrifting #VintageSewingMachine #ForgottenTreasures

A little early morning sewing 🧵 . . I’ve had the new (old) machine going for a little over a week now and I’m absolutely loving it! . . I put off using the old machines as my daily machines for years thinking they would be too fiddly. Not the case at all! . . If anything, I’m finding this machine is actually easier to use! . . It sews straighter, not a single stitch has been skipped, it has a more pleasant sound, and it’s just so darn pretty to look at at 🥰 . . Currently on the sewing table is a blue crepe dress which I’m hoping to have ready for the weekend. We’re headed back to Long Beach and the Queen Mary. . . We’ve had a lovely couple weekends at home, but starting Friday we’re back on the road.
