The 4th one might get me canceled 🫠
People love to say “just quit” like you don’t have bills to pay. Or “just be glad you have a job” like you can’t be grateful and low-key miserable at the same time. 😂
But here are 4 things that actually help:
1️⃣ Set a non-negotiable shut-down boundary at the end of the day.
👉 Pick a time. Close the laptop. Walk away. (And stop checking emails until the next work day!)
⚡Your first job is to keep work from bleeding into your home and personal time.
2️⃣ Make a list of what your job gives to you right now.
👉 I’m not talking about toxic positivity. I’m talking about the practical ways it’s supporting your life.
—It covers health insurance.
—I get to use my brain and technical skills.
—This keeps my family stable while I figure out what’s next.
⚡️REMIND yourself of these often.
3️⃣ Look for moments in the day that feel a little bit better.
👉A customer or client you genuinely helped. A coworker who makes you laugh. A project where you can show off your badass Excel skills.
⚡You can always find small glimmers everyday if you are looking for them.
4️⃣ Tamp down the venting and gossiping. (**dodges rotten tomatoes**)
👉The “we’re all miserable together” complaining circle feels like bonding, but it can actually make it worse. Because just when you’re bouncing back, someone else is ready to drag you back down.
⚡If you need to process externally, set new limits with your work friends (e.g. 5-minute vent session followed by funny memes and encouragement the rest of the day).
⚡️Or ask a trusted friend or spouse to listen and support you, but not amplify it.

This is me after an incredibly intense and stressful few days at work this week. See all the puffiness on my face? Especially on the eyelids/around the eyes?
If you've ever noticed something similar, you might have thought you had recently gained weight.
But chances are that you didn't - especially if you noticed this after a stressful week.
When you go through intense pressure — like a big event, deadlines, being “on” all day — your body increases cortisol, your main stress hormone.
Cortisol is not evil in itself. It’s designed to protect you, to help you survive.
But when it stays elevated for days:
• It increases water retention
• It shifts fluid balance
• It can raise insulin levels
• It makes your body hold onto sodium
• It promotes temporary fat storage (especially face + midsection)
That puffy face (and/or bloated belly)?
It’s often fluid retention driven by stress hormones. Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say that it hits harder after 40... here's why:
As estrogen starts fluctuating in perimenopause, your body becomes:
– More sensitive to cortisol
– Less resilient to sleep disruption
– Slower to clear stress hormones
So what you used to smoothly bounce back from in your 30s now painfully lingers for days.
And the face is often the first place you see it.
The solution isn’t punishing workouts or cutting carbs immediately. It’s:
– regulating your nervous system
– prioritising deep sleep
– stabilising blood sugar
– actually recovering after high-output days
The good news is that once stress comes down, the puffiness usually does too.
If this week showed up on your face too, drop a 💙 in the comments so that we know we're not alone!

Sometimes you don’t need a sick day.
You just need to work from home — and that’s allowed 😌💻
Here are 5 professional, low-drama ways to say you’re WFH today 👇
1️⃣ “I’ll be working from home today and will be fully available.”
Clear, confident, no extra explanation.
2️⃣ “I’m planning to work remotely today to focus and stay productive.”
Signals intention, not avoidance.
3️⃣ “I’ll be online and reachable from home today.”
Reassures without oversharing.
4️⃣ “I’m working from home today due to personal logistics.”
Boundaries intact. Details unnecessary.
5️⃣ “I’ll be remote today and back in office tomorrow.”
Short. Professional. Done.
You don’t owe anyone your full life story.
Clear communication is professionalism.

When the signs are all around the high performer will they listen? The work stress is out of control. It is consuming every waking…and sleeping moment. Those around them, like their work bestie are noticing. At first the high performer chalks it up to normal exhaustion. But as the signs grow more glaring, like hair loss, sever acid reflux and physical pain, they begin to wonder if this job is taking a real toll on their health. Ever experience this? If so, let this be your reminder that no job is worth running you into the ground!
