The details of this summer are pretty inconsequential… luge lessons, meat helmets, discussing the invention of the question mark. Pretty standard really. I mean… Austin Powers 4?! YEA babyyy! by @tagschreck

A letter to Big Sur: the first time I went to visit you I didn’t leave wanting to come back… see, my brother at the time is what you’d call a dirtbag, someone who could sleep on any surface on any budget just to score some waves. He was a fickle beast.

And on that particular trip, maybe I was 13 at the time - he took us out on one of your bluffs to sleep next to his favorite wave with nothing but a sleeping bag. in the middle of the night the clear sky turned to fog, the mist turned to what felt like rain, and to this day I still get shit over how miserable I was the next morning.

But being a little sibling you can’t help but be inspired by what your older siblings admire. What turned from a night of no sleep turned into a love story.

To and from UCSB I’d leave extra early to give myself a couple more hours to score the “scenic route” home. Maybe a night on the ridge, maybe a surf, maybe just to sit on the side of the road, ponder off, and ask myself how a place like this could exist so close to home.

It’s hard to describe the magic of Big Sur… what feels like some sea witch casting spells to lure back travelers. the fog, the crashing of waves, the eucalyptus smells, the mystique of it all.

Now in my later years I can’t get enough of you. And the best part of all, just like what my brother did for me, I get to do for others. Maybe just leaving out the misty 2am strike mission. Until next time you beauty. taken in Big Sur, California by @tagschreck

It’s pretty safe to say that if you knew me a couple years ago, damn maybe even last year, you probably saw someone a little lost.

Maybe the culmination of your typical 20’s ups and downs… from the highs of collegiate track and field, followed by a torn ACL, from presidents club to getting laid off - by the time I hit 30, I felt like I hadn’t really found anything that I was building towards. No clear “path”.

I remember talking to a good friend about how I wanted to be more creative, more intentional with my life - shoot photography, design homes, build shit with my hands - start a maple syrup conglomerate with my cousin - blah blah blah, you know the deal. I still remember his words “if you don’t do this now you never will”.

So.. over the slow build of not listening to my gut I finally snapped - I hopped in some design classes, ripped the camera at least 5x a week, took some bad photos, took some slightly less bad photos, and, most importantly, somewhere along the way, stopped worrying about the “right” path, and starting paying attention to what actually felt good to build.

If you had told me a couple years ago I’d be running a hard cider brand that comes from a 100-year-old orchard, where Big Tom can be seen ripping his John Deer pruning trees throughout the year, I’d scoff at the notion.

And with all that said, here we are… over the course of the last year I’ve had the privilege of turning these apples into an idea that I’m very proud of. Something that most importantly - can be shared with friends, family, and in times of celebrating the simple moments.

I mean all things said and done, Cider Horse, in the year of the horse, c’monnn!!

I know there are a lot of “I” statements in this announcement, but this is far from an “I” story, and it’s time for you all to follow along because this doesn’t happen without the help of those around me.

If you’d like to try this limited first batch, give feedback, share thoughts, etc. - either comment or sign up on the sheet in the bio and I’ll reach out. Yewww! 🤙 @drinkciderhorse by @tagschreck
