as a child, i was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. my teachers had been suggesting i was neurodivergent since i was 8, so i dedicated all my teen years to researching the neurobiology and trying to understand why all these habits that were so easy for my peers seemed so much more challenging for me.

i don't blame any of my family members for their initial ignorance, but at first most people just advised me to pray it away. everybody knew i was a smart kid, but concluded that i was just too lazy to apply myself. i spent hours every night pleading to God to "fix" me. but i was never created in the WRONG way. after years of self loathing, i finally came to the realisation that i wasn't broken, just different.
a disability isn't a choice, but confidence is.

i started to educate my friends and family about what the condition really is. ADHD has always been a highly misrepresented disorder, so most people assumed it's simply a behavioural issue. but like How dare you? i'm a sweetheart 🐇🎀

after some time of my loud-mouthed preaching, i inadvertently made a few people around me realise that they'd had no real understanding of the actual spectrum, which inspired them to go after a clinical diagnosis and seek appropriate treatment.

this made me realise that there aren't many people like me helping others and educating my demographic about the nuances of mental health or what steps we can all take to accomodate us.

so after many years of advocating for myself, i've turned my passion towards advocating for others full time. i believe that there needs to be a young & ethnic face for Gen Z who really cares about helping young adults navigate their brains in a relatable, educated, and genuinely helpful way.

two months ago i started with a community for people to congregate, share their experiences, and make friends. @theadhdcommunityuk has already reached nearly 150 members !! ⪩⦁𖥦⦁⪨ and i am also working on starting our own magazine. 🩷💚
