Confession: I hardly go outside 🫣 yes, I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world (Costa Rica) but spend most of my time in doors, even in the dry season. However when I go to the Netherlands (in the summer) I find myself itching to go outside, wanting to enjoy every bit of sunshine (when it does come out). Hopefully this sparks some creativity ✨✨

I put this wig to the test in a more humid and tropical environment for 3 weeks and it was…ANNOYING 🫢

The weather in this area is significantly more humid than where I live, which wrecked an absolute havoc on my the hair, it looked oily and heavy and the styles just wouldn’t last. In a next post/reel I will let you know what I did to make it somewhat bearable.

Today’s focus: Ventilating — also known as knotting.

This is the process of securing each strand of hair to the lace, using a tiny tool called a ventilating needle — think of it as a mini crochet hook. 🧵

Depending on the hair type and needle size, I can knot one or more strands at a time. It’s a slow and steady process (this step takes the longest!), but it’s also incredibly satisfying to watch the wig gradually come to life.

This is where the transformation really begins — one knot at a time. 💫

Story time:

I am currently very close to ocean (about a 3 and a half hour drive from home, that’s a lot for this former small island girl) I’m thinking about the first time I took my wig to the beach 🏖️
This is a short but eventful story of what happened that day and lessons we can all learn about what not to do. I am not exaggerating when I say that this was my most embarrassing wig moment, thankfully it’s all in the past and I can laugh about it now.

In this second video I show how I modified and customized an existing full lace wig cap. The idea here was to replace the existing rough lace in the front with finer Swiss lace.
Not everything has to be created from scratch.
