Welcome to the new Tailoress Atelier! We have been working at our beautiful new studio for some time now to bring a sweeter experience. A place where most special day projects to custom design happen.

We still love our original studio as it now remains for your fittings, everyday alts, and a good hang.

DESIGNER DIARIES - ISABEL TOLEDO

For Hispanic heritage month I wanted to highlight a Cuban American designer, Isabel Toledo, a trailblazer for my culture and roots. Isabel began sewing at the age of 8 because “I couldnt find anything I loved.” (Both of these notes hit so close to home for me both because I began sewing at the age of 8 and later developing my skill because of my struggle to find clothing that fit me.) She was recognized for her attention to detail and craftsmanship. She began her studies at FIT which included painting, ceramics, and fashion design. Her work was soon sold by Barneys, Collete in Paris and Joyce in Hong Kong. Alber Elbaz was quoted saying “Everybody sort of stole from Isabel. Her work was about volume, cut, experiments and a laboratory of fabric.”
