What a difference an adjustment can make 🤩

This sweet boy came to us with back pain and limping after running into a ditch. His back was severely misaligned, and he was very tender to the touch.

After a few adjustments, he was feeling so much better and you could see the amazing difference in his back alignment.

Not only are we so happy he is feeling better, we love that he is now back to hiking and playing and doing all the things he loves to do! Every dog deserves to feel good in their body!

Wellness care isn’t just about keeping your dog feeling good it’s about catching the little things before they become big things. 🐾

You don’t have to wait until your dog is limping, painful, or obviously injured to benefit from animal chiropractic.
Wellness visits give us the opportunity to establish a baseline for how your animal moves, feels, and functions. We assess joint motion, muscle tension, symmetry, gait, posture, and compensation patterns so we can recognize changes early.

Wellness care is especially valuable for canine athletes. Agility, hiking, running, hunting, herding, dock diving, and other high-impact activities place significant demands on the body. Regular assessments help us identify restrictions or compensations before they potentially become a bigger problem.

Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease is a progressive degeneration of the main stabilizing ligament in the dog knee that is most similar to ACL in humans. In dogs, the fibers tend to break slowly and then can progress to full rupture, maximum instability, and pain. Full rupture is often accompanied by meniscus damage, which can sometimes be appreciated as a repetitive click on flexion of the joint, and pain signs in the pet such as limping.

The first image is of something called medial buttress, a firm thickening on the inside of the knee that is an indicator for knee dysfunction — common with cruciate damage or osteoarthritis. Your veterinarian may note medial buttress before other clinical signs are noted such as limping. This might also be present even without some of the more definitive motion dysfunction tests like Cranial Drawer or Tibial Thrust. Medial buttress shows that something has been going on in this knee for some time, and may prompt more definitive diagnostic recommendations such as an x-ray (radiograph.)

Treatment options depend on suspected level of damage, patient size, patient lifestyle, and amount of pain. Partial tears have a higher likelihood of responding to non-surgical options like physical therapy, so catching abnormal joint findings and gait changes early is important through regular thorough musculoskeletal exams.

We had so much fun seeing all the amazing pups in costume at this year's @tourdecorgi 🤩🐾

We especially loved being able to pamper them with some extra TLC as corgis can be prone to joint pain.

Did you know. . .

🐶 Longer backed breeds (corgis, dachshunds, basset hounds) have increased risk of disc injuries

🐶 Corgis have a genetic form of dwarfism which can lead to weakened cartilage

🐶 Due to their short legs, they can be susceptible to shoulder and knee pain

Luckily, they respond incredibly well to chiropractic care. Adjustments can go a long way in helping to reduce pain, improve range of motion and reduce injury risk.

Plus, we go nuts for corgi butts! 🤗🐾💙

Rags to riches pup edition 🐕

This sweet girl was found abandoned in a parking lot. Her poor back and knees were so painful. Luckily, she was adopted by the best mom ever and now gets adjusted every two weeks because she enjoys it so much. 🥹

Her back and knee pain have completely resolved and she is living her best life. 🐾💙
