I’m always proud of my kids, but this week was a particularly special week for Emma. She was recognized for excellence in math as a junior. And tonight we celebrated her greatness in silks. She has been putting in major work to excel to a point where she could join the performance team and put on this great show of labyrinth. Not only is she an academic weapon, she has a wonderful artistic side and is one heck of an athlete. Tamarindo you are always magical. It’s amazing to return after all of these years and feel right at home. Amazing to see old friends, explore the town and enjoy the surf. It’s been pretty much surf, eat, sleep, repeat, often times in the same day.

Last week @belikejoshfoundation put a call out for a foster and a ride to save this sweet boy Oliver from the kill list. A first time foster in Sacramento gave him a safe and loving home and got him prepared for the trip. Today Oliver joined me on my drive south to LA where we’ll be picking up another pup for the drive to Phoenix to meet up with @belikejoshfoundation . Oliver is an 11 month pup and he is the sweetest guy. He’s been a great road buddy and he’s going to make a family very happy. Keep an eye on the Be Like Josh page if you are interested in fostering in the Phoenix area.

Headed to the @newportsurfshoporegon and @alicatthrift surf swap and thrift event on Saturday, 12-8pm. I’ll have these three boards with me for sale.

First up is a CJ Nelson 8’ Outlier in Thunderbolt Red. This board is in excellent condition. The person I bought it from said it was CJs personal board that he rode at the surf ranch which can be found on YouTube. This is a user friendly hull, meant for smooth cruising and big arcing turns. I’m only selling this board because I have a similar shape in an 8’3.

Next up is a CJ Nelson 9’6 Parallax in Thunderbolt red. This is a user friendly long hull and it is the fastest board I’ve ridden. I surfed it at overhead C street and it felt like a freaking rocket ship, while being quite stable. I wished I could keep it, but I have to clear some space for new boards in the quiver. My buddy is riding one of these and he is definitely one of the people having the most fun in the water, he catches everything. This board has one repaired ding on the bottom and beyond that is in good condition.

The last board is a 11’ crime glider in EPS with a hard foam top. It’s not a foamie board, it’s a performance board that doesn’t require wax. This board goes in 1 foot slop as well as shoulder high runners. I wished I could keep it, but I only have room for one glider and I want to explore some other shapes. This board is perfect for our spots when it’s super small and also when it’s bigger and glassy, you connect peaks and make up a lot of distance in a quick amount of time. If you want to catch a lot of waves this thing delivers. I’ll have some fins and other items at the swap, come hang out and talk boards.

There was a @sanonofresurfingclub gathering today and they had a popup shop. I scored a hat, couple T-shirts, sticker for the van, membership and this amazing 50th anniversary book all about the club. San Onofre beach is my favorite place in the world to surf and just hangout all day. It’s one of the few breaks left that retains the old school vibe of 50 years ago. You can’t help but to have a smile on your face all day as you enjoy story and laughter with new and old friends. Finally setup the @moon_fabrications Moonshade XL. It’s a great awning setup for the van. It goes up in less than 5 minutes, it’s huge, quite sturdy and folds down into a 3ft carrying case. We are looking forward to using it this year at San Elijo for our annual camping trip. #moonfam #moonshadexl #partoftheadventure by @takedown8
