Among the many nuances of life, few things compare the complexities of grief. The inability to do the things you enjoy or simply the things you need & want often feels despondent. Looking at pictures like this from around this time last year makes you wonder. If you’d told me one year later, I’d struggle to stand up straight & have to walk with an assistive device for months, I wouldn’t believe you or Id have to sleep in a recliner for months just find some comfort plus many other modifications. Dysfunction has robbed me from more peace than I’d like to admit. Being in chronic pain is not only physically taxing but also mentally & emotionally exhausting. And nerve pain is so unpredictable. I so desperately wanted for this chapter to be a lot shorter, but the truth is, I know there is so much to gain on the other side of recovery ❤️‍🩹 & for me that starts with gratitude. Sometimes it’s easy to become hyperfixated on what you can’t do, you lose sight of what you still have. So if you too are going through a rough season, I encourage you to trust Jesus and remember Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. God is still in control 🙏🏿

My wife and I (@takeitfromnesh) explored Ann Arbor, Michigan with @annarbor — and what a trip 💙💛

We arrived via @amtrak from Chicago and stayed at the sleek and stylish @vanguardannarbor — a perfect home base. Ann Arbor surprised us with its food, culture, and energy.

🍽️ Food highlights:
@baospacea2 for unforgettable bao and pork dishes
@bluellamajazzclub for live jazz + duck confit & sweet potato cornbread
@zingermansdeli (since 1982) for iconic sandwiches that live up to the hype
@echelonannarbor was our favorite dinner — incredible flavors from start to finish
@misskim by @@chefjihyekim was my first Korean food experience and it was phenomenal
@peridot_a2 delivered one of the best steaks I’ve ever had

My wife and I (@takeitfromnesh) explored the beautiful city of Lexington, Kentucky with @visitlex — and wow, what an incredible romantic getaway it was! 💙🐎

From exploring art at @21chotels, creating our own body spray and soap at @poppyandpomelo, horseback riding at @kyhorsepark, and learning pickleball with @jillsmith14 at @pkllex — to diving into the rich culture of Black farming with @blacksoilky, and jamming with the legendary @teedeeyoung_blues at @teedeesbluesandjazz — Lexington completely stole our hearts.

Of course, we ate so well:
🥩 @miletarestaurant – easily my favorite, with the best steak I’ve ever had (plus parmesan ice cream and savory sourdough pancakes 👏)
🍳 @lockboxlex – those breakfast potatoes deserve an award
🍤 @sassybleufinesoutherndining – soul food perfection: gumbo, fried shrimp, lamb chops
🍽️ @themanchesterky – @chefpaulaendara and team are cooking up magic at this @michelinguide star hotel
🧀 @thekentuckycastle – unforgettable pimento cheese dip, breakfast grilled cheese & red pepper jelly
