2025 WORKSHOP will be in Scottsdale, AZ January 5-9 - You can apply today!

We are SO excited to announce and open up applications for the Take your shot workshop 2025! When planning for this workshop, we couldn’t think of a better way to launch into 2025 than with community and space to truly connect and dive deeper with people to help them gain clarity on their business goals and actually put a plan into place.

The last Take Your Shot workshop was so amazing, but don’t take our word for it - watch this film to see what past attendees had to say!

Our workshops are about so much more than taking photos in cool locations - this is not simply a “content retreat” it’s a Business workshop. You can have the most beautiful photos in the world, but that isn’t what’s going to make you successful - you need a strategy and you need intentionality.

Our approach to these workshops might be a little different than what you’ve seen done before. We want to INVEST in you and help you and your business SUCCEED! Running a business can be overwhelming, hard, and lonely at times - and we are here to change that narrative and come alongside you and be the support you’ve been looking for and need.

So, if you haven’t applied yet, this is your sign to do so! Shoot us a message if you have any questions!

In this episode of the Take Your Shot podcast, I’m sharing the full story behind the $8,000 wedding I turned down and why. I also talk through some lessons I've learned over the years when it comes to serving clients in difficult situations. This is a good one, and you won't want to miss it! Tune in to episode 85 of the Take Your Shot Podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts - Link in bio! by @takeyourshotcollective

My goal in sharing this is to help show you that you can book weddings and work with your dream clients simply by being yourself, not just a copy and paste of what everyone else is doing or what’s trending - people love your work, but they hire you for you.

To me it doesn’t matter how much someone makes. And quite honestly... I don’t really want to learn from people who make it primarily about the money. Because for them, oftentimes that’s all they really care about.

I’ve been burned one too many times pulling out my credit card and paying different “success coaches” or “educators” thousands of dollars only to learn the hard way that I’m just a transaction to them, and they actually can’t help me scale my business.

I think that’s why being an educator is something I've struggled with. I want nothing to do with the money hungry coaches who just want to sell someone an unattainable dream to make another transaction.

So, here I am. I'm just living a modest life, driving an old car with no car payment, buying used and caring about sustainability, and still finding my own version success.

Success to me is less about money, big titles, new cars, luxury everything, etc… when I see people living like this it honestly doesn’t impress me. Your $80,000 car does the same main thing as my paid off old car 🤷🏽‍♀️

So yeah, I belive that money isn’t the goal and was never supposed to be. it’s just a tool. And I don’t believe in chasing money for the sake of wanting more.

I prefer to learn from people who show me what's possible, not talk about themselves and the millions they made sellling empty promises. I want to learn from people who are generous and make a difference with the time and money they have.

That's why I strive to be someone who shows you what success can look like and what living an intentional life can be like, without making it specifically about the money.

Because more money won’t solve things and what you do with the money you have matters so much more than how much you have.

Even some of the most successful, highly paid professional athletes go bankrupt or live paycheck to paycheck..

so let's get things straight that money isn't the only thing that matters. So let's stop talking about it like it is.

Anyway, I just felt like ranting about this for a moment, and if this resonates with you I'd love you to follow along and let me know what you think about all of this! by @takeyourshotcollective

This week on the podcast, we are excited to share this conversation I had with @infulldetail all about how to *actually* grow on social media! You won't want to miss this one! by @takeyourshotcollective

I grew up believing in the American dream.

I studied hard, took out over $100k in debt to get a degree, was president of the honors society, captain of the college track team, graduated summa cum lade, landed a leadership job at a Fortune 500 company, got my MBA, and on paper - I was well on my way to “the dream”

But ultimately, after landing the “dream job” and climbing the ladder, I found myself working crazy hours trading my mental health for a paycheck.

Deep down, I knew it wasn’t for me.

Thankfully, I lost faith in the American dream at a young age. I left my corporate job and took a 40% pay cut to start getting my time and freedom back. My husband and I lived well below our means, paid off our debt aggressively, and essentially saved and invested the rest of our income.

Our combined income was less than six figures when I felt called to go full time with photography. I only had $12,000 of bookings lined up, but I knew that taking my shot and going all in was what I was supposed to do.

Within less than one year, I ended up earning more than my previous salary. But it was never about the money, and it still isn’t. It’s about the freedom.

My husband and I live a pretty simple life. The American dream tells us to spend more because we “worked hard and deserve it”.

Instead, we choose to save & invest more.

The American dream says to take out a loan and buy a new car... We've never had a car loan.

We still drive my 2001 Honda accord that I took my drivers test in and a 2015 Prius we bought from a junk yard (wild story for another time).

Overconsumption and buying into the narrative that having more or spending more will make you happy is actually the very thing that I believe is keeping you stuck.

Do you really want to spend all your days working with only 2 weeks off each year, and do that until you’re in your 60’s and 70’s? Idk about you but that sounds more like a nightmare than a dream.

Hi, I’m Halle and I host a podcast for creative business owners and my goal is to help people build a sustainable business that allows you to live a more intentional life.

If you’re sick of living in the grind of chasing the American dream, welcome <3 by @takeyourshotcollective

Honestly, I wasn't planning on taking a 2-month sabbatical but it was super necessary. After a mental health crisis and several other heavy things this year, I needed to step away to focus on my community, family, friends, and my own health and now I'm finally back to talk a little about that and also what's to come.

While in a lot of ways this has been such a great year, it hasn't been without it's costs and challenges which I don't always know how to fully talk about here - so that's why I felt the need to take the space I needed and this episode is just my proof of life update and a little more context by @takeyourshotcollective

So often, creative business owners jump into spending thousands of dollars on a rebrand or new website but they don’t actually know what they want. They feel disconnected, uninspired, or burnt out and think “I need to overhaul everything I’ve built” so they overhaul their business thinking that will fix things - but it doesn’t.

The truth is, our best decisions often come from a place of rest, clarity, and connection. That’s why we’ve launched the Out of Office Retreat. We want you to fall back in love with your business and the life you’re building.

CREATIVE BUSINESS RETREAT
NOV 10-12, 2026 • @wildriceretreat

My business has seen so many seasons, from being a college student, to grieving the loss of my mom during peak wedding season, creative burnout, becoming a bio and foster mom, building and running a team, navigating divorce and becoming a single mom.

It’s asked me to get SO clear on my values and evolve with my business as the seasons changed. Having community alongside me through every season has been absolutely crucial and life giving.

We created this retreat because life and business are better together, and we need spaciousness to realign in different seasons, but to live a creative life and run a business well.

@lullephotoandfilm and I have had so many years where the end of wedding season comes with wanting to burn it all down, rebrand everything, and honestly felt more distracted and unclear than we felt aligned.

Cannot wait to be with you all!

Wedding videography isn't dead, but you do have to be able to spend time getting visible if you want to succeed in this market. And being stuck behind the editing backlog is not going to keep you in business for long.

Thankfully, @wanderlustvideos makes it easy to get your time back. When you outsource your projects to Wanderlust Videos, you get a dedicated project manager and quality control specialist. They learn your style and follow your creative direction. You still oversee the whole process and give feedback along the way, while they do the heavy lifting. Essentially working as an extension of your team.

If you want to give it a try yourself, you can use the code TAKEYOURSHOT100 to get $100 off your first project of $200 or more!

Three reasons leads are ghosting you after they inquire… and none of them have to do with your pricing.

❌ Your response time is too slow. By the time you see the inquiry and type out a reply, they've already contacted someone else. Speed of response is everything at this stage.

❌ There's no easy way to book a call with you. If getting on your calendar requires a back and forth email thread, most people won't bother. The friction alone is costing you bookings.

❌ Your process isn't clear. If someone can't picture what working with you looks like from the moment they reach out, doubt creeps in fast. Clarity converts.

I know because I was there. And then I set up Dubsado.

Now the second someone inquires, a workflow kicks off automatically: they get an immediate response, a link to book a call, and after a call they get one link with a proposal, contract, and invoice ready to go so they can pick their package, sign the contract, and pay immediately - without me lifting a finger.

The leads that used to go cold? Now they're booking.

Want to see exactly how this works before you start? Comment DEMO for the link to join a no-pressure demo then try Dubsado free for 21 days and use code TAKEYOURSHOT for 30% off your first year. by @takeyourshotcollective
