Stages of Grief | an animatic I made to help process my own feelings

Hope is fickle, yet somehow, it persists, clinging to the thinnest threads of possibility.

Probably one of the last few posts I will make talking about this as I will prepare to go overseas for surgery/holiday.

I want to preface that this post is not to push an agenda on how you should be processing this; this is my way of processing what happened and my way of expression. Each person is different and unique in their beautiful own way. The way I process and understand this, is not the same as you or others are going to be. Anyways, thank you for watching such a long video. I’ve been thinking about this for a while. At the same time, I wanted to learn more skills in adobe after effects.

I have no other words here as everything I want to say can be reflected in this video.

Valko, in all his grandeur, was taken from us just as fast as he was given.

Instead of writing about my emotions and my sadness, I would like to address all of you out there. The word “sad” doesn’t do justice to how this community is feeling; neither does “upset” or “emotional.” I think many of us did not realise just how much this would actually impact us until it happened in the moment. Your feelings are valid. Take all the time you need; no one is obligated to understand why this hurts you specifically. Allow yourself to feel everything; the anger, the grief, the confusion, the disbelief. Even if he is not real, your emotions for him are.

That being said, for all the sadness that came about, there was so much good that happened too. Fans have gathered, artists have poured their hearts into tributes, many contributed to charity, and out of all this pain, something beautiful has emerged.

Thank you all. Thank you to the community that poured their heart out to Valko.

#bringvalkoback | Keeping him alive through art.

I want to contribute more to keeping him alive, so here is my character sheet reference (albeit a very messy sketch I did when he just got released and teased) for Valko. Please use it to draw him if it helps. I rarely share my character sheets, but this is the best time to do so. I want us all to keep spreading our love for Valko and to keep creating. He will not disappear or become lost to time because of the choices of many selfish individuals.

As long as we keep creating, we will win.

Do it for yourself. Do it for those who worked on him. Do it for art.

Even just sharing this and expressing your emotions; that is art.

Take as long as you need to mourn, but always find a way to move forward even if it’s in small ways. Don’t let them stop you and keep you silent; because that is what they want.

We will be heard. Speak out. Your voice and opinions matter.

You are still loved Valko. And to everyone who worked so hard on him; the artists, the voice actors, the modellers, writers, the coders, you deserve so much more than this.

No matter whether you like Valko or dislike him, art is allowed to exist. And those who disrespect art or the artists behind it, may you one day understand what you’re truly dismissing.

Art exists to be seen, not silenced.

I hope he returns to the players.
