Lawyer by profession.
Multi-creative by nature.
Too curious for one version.

I’m a lawyer. I also write. And this is only one part of me…

I’ve always loved writing, mostly in an old-fashioned way ✍🏻 I think I was always a little old. I loved old things before I was old enough to call them old-fashioned.

I wrote random thoughts, short novels, essays, poems, whatever could hold the feelings I didn’t know what else to do with. Weirdly, it was usually something existential and out of context.

Most of those pages never saw daylight. I threw many away, tore them up, even burned some.

Later, I tried to recreate a few. I couldn’t. Once I’d written something, I could barely remember the words, sometimes I wouldn’t even recognise them as my own.

After a few failed attempts, my father told me that he and my mother had recovered some of my old writings, put the pieces back together and had them bound.

Dad still keeps them on his desk. Today, I’m grateful they did that.

Somewhere around the time I started studying law, I stopped writing.

My muses left me. Or maybe I left them.

At some point, I started believing that different or opposite worlds couldn’t coexist in one person. That the seriousness of my profession had to cancel out creativity, joy, lightness and humour. That choosing one identity meant abandoning the others.

Or maybe I heard it often enough from society, university, work, people around me, that eventually it started to sound like my own thought. Thankfully, never from the friends who have known me the longest ✨

Until I realised that different parts of us don’t have to compete.

So yes, I’m a lawyer. But even my professional path has moved through different areas of law, most recently Energy Law, and now Fashion and Art Law.

But I’m also every curiosity, interest, obsession and creative instinct beyond that title.

And I’m writing again. It feels like finally exhaling after holding my breath for a very long time.

And just when I thought I’d made peace with that, along came social media, where apparently one must have one niche 😂

Maybe I don’t need one. Maybe I just need the kind of people who gets it.

If you’ve never quite fit into one “niche” either, you’ll probably understand this page.

This is what a village lavoir looked like in France🎨
Before washing machines and running water at home, women gathered here to wash clothes by hand🧺 And probably exchange the village news🤫Inconvenient, but beautiful. taken in La Turbie Village by @tako_occasionally

Purgatorio. “The roughest, most deserted landslide between Lerici and Turbia, compared with it, seems a wide and easy stairway”.

Despite having a good memory and The Divine Comedy being one of my favourite works, I didn’t remember and certainly didn’t expect, that the Turbia mentioned in Purgatorio was an actual place here in the South of France.

I was walking through the village of La Turbie, when I noticed a few lines by Dante, carved into one of its walls.

That was the moment my brain connected the two.

I checked and yes the Turbia Dante mentions is the same La Turbie village. taken in La Turbie Village by @tako_occasionally
