Forever so so grateful for my amazing aunt @sassiedivine for granting me the graduation trip of my dreams!! From planning to execution to everything in between thank you for indulging all of my silly whims and making this a trip I’ll never forget. Your generosity has been beyond what I could have ever imagined and I will treasure all the moments we spent together.

Uncle Harold may not have joined us physically on this trip, but I felt his presence so often from heaven while we were together, guiding our way. Thank you for fulfilling the dreams you had with him to give me the trip of a lifetime.

Final semester dump heavily featuring graduation week and The Visit because… well what else was this semester really? 😂

Feeling so grateful and supported as I close this chapter 💗 Thank you to everyone who made this last semester more than I could have ever hoped for. I’m nervous to leave this place that has become my second home, but knowing I have so many people rooting for me inspires me to have the faith in myself that they do. I thank God for each and every person that has touched my experience at UF- I owe so much of who I am to each of you and I wouldn’t change the past four years for anything 🧡💙🐊

For now…
ONWARD!

How to put into words the gratitude I feel for this show. I knew the moment I read the script that I was in big trouble- that it would be all to easy for me to fall in love with this kooky world, it’s compelling moral questions, and most of all with the Claire herself. And fall in love I did.

I wanted to bring humanity to this “villain”- to not excuse her actions but to show the audience why she does them. Because all of us have pain, all of us have been wronged at some point in our lives. The question is, what do we do with that pain? How do we interact with those we know are hurting? Maybe, just maybe, if Claire had met someone who looked at her with empathy instead of judgement, her story would have ended differently. And maybe, each of us is called to be that person for someone else.

There are so many people to thank for making this last show at UF extra special for me- our wonderful director Charlie Mitchell who allowed me so much freedom to make discoveries in rehearsal, this lovely ensemble of actors for bringing this story to life with so much commitment and care (finding so many little moments of joy both on and off stage!) the incredible design team with their spectacular vision (I have to give some extra praise to @stephensstuff for not only believing in me before I was even cast, but also for taking such good care of our Clara with costumes beyond my wildest dreams), my darling dressers @isa.casasnovasm and @ella_violett for pampering me and putting up with my daily checklists, the entire SM team for holding such a productive yet joyous workspace, and to Claire herself for teaching me so much about creating power on a stage with both her strength and brokenness.

It’s gonna be hard to let go of this show, but I praise God that this opportunity came at a time when I was ready to embrace it. All the glory goes to Him because I know I couldn’t do any of this alone. And thank YOU if you’ve made it to the end of this tirade 🤪

Let’s visit again some time, Clara.

Senior Project SUBMITTED ✅😱🥳🥹
This process was totally not what I expected for my senior project and yet somehow it feels just so right. Too many things just “fell into place” with this for me to think it was anything other than God watching out for us- the right script, the right cast, the right director, the right time- everything just as it was meant to be.

That’s not to say it wasn’t hard. Honestly this has been one of my most challenging semesters at UF. Balancing this show and Rent was no easy task, and there were moments throughout this process that I genuinely doubted as to whether this show would get up on its feet… let alone actually be GOOD.

And yet somehow (thanks again God) it was.

Thank you Jen for teaching me to “embrace the mess” and for inviting more and more of myself into you. You’ve shown me that I don’t need to reach any further than me to create dynamic, nuanced characters.

I’m so grateful to @maddielizaf and @julia.actorwriterdreamer for dedicating so much of their time to this project- I’m pretty sure it was more of a commitment than they ever thought it would be yet they never backed down and showed this process just as much intentionality as we did. I couldn’t imagine (nor do I want to imagine) this show without them!!

And of course to my fellow Rebeckians- @emazzing1 and @ryleesiegel : you guys!! We did it!! Against all odds, WE DID IT!! How fulfilling it has been to do this project with both of you. To bring our friendship to the stage and to feel as though no matter the struggles we always had each others’ backs. It was well worth the wait for us to all be in a show together and I hope you know I mean it when I say let’s do it again soon 💗

Three years of no musicals and let me tell you I’ve MISSED IT!! This show reminded me of both the immense effort and the incredible amount of joy that musical theatre brings to my world. Getting to sing and dance on stage is something I love to do and being a part of this show reminded me of how much I want to pursue this for the rest of my life.

ALSO, to get to be a part of the show that reopened our beautiful Constans Theatre after three years??? Wow, what an honor. The last time I performed on that stage was my freshman fall, so this whole experience has been a perfectly fulfilling full-circle moment.

I feel so grateful to have begun my senior year with this incredible group of people- they’ve called me higher in the best possible way through their love and dedication, and I will cherish the moments of love we created on that stage.

And now, I’m seeking to bring a bit more of Rent to my life: focusing on the present moment and living like there’s no day but today ❤️
