“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.” – William James

Bringing Best Buddies to my school did more than change the lives of students with disabilities. It reshaped the culture of our entire community into one rooted in inclusion, kindness, and genuine connection.

Before Best Buddies, many students with disabilities went through the school day with little to no interaction with their general education peers. They were present, but too often overlooked.

Best Buddies changed that. It created a space where these students are seen, valued, and empowered to be themselves.

As the founder and president of this club, I have witnessed moments that are impossible to forget. Classrooms that once felt isolated are now filled with laughter and visitors. Buddy pairs have grown into real, lasting friendships. Students who once hesitated to speak now start conversations with confidence. Connections that once seemed unlikely have become natural and meaningful.

These are not small changes. They are life changing.

Best Buddies is not just a club. It is a movement that reminds us what it means to belong. It shows that inclusion is not an idea, but a choice we make every day.

This is the work I am most proud of.
