Hi, I’m Talisha! Founder of @elitehairlounge and @imanhair_official and I’ve spent 20 years building a career around textured hair.

I’ve opened 3 London salons, been in British Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire UK and Afro Hair Salon of the Year twice! I’ve never been very good at celebrating myself but it’s time I started. I want to share my valuable insights, expertise and learnings from my 20 years here, so if you’re interested, make sure to give me a follow and say hi in the comments 🖤

20 years ago there were handful of salons specialising in textured hair. Today, it’s a thriving market with more salons than ever before and more brands catering to our hair too! Textured hair isn’t niche. It’s proven profitable and it goes to show that this competition has raised the bar for everyone. However, many businesses are struggling as a result of this over-saturation. The ones that are winning are the ones with real expertise, consistency + community. Viral content is amazing, but it doesn’t always translate into £££. What are your thought? by @talishacox_

On Monday I hosted an incredible event all about hormones, hair loss and scalp health at White City House, thank you to the team for having us! It was such an informative evening. I have so much to share from the event. It means so much to have @elitehairlounge being given this opportunity.

Special thanks to our incredible speakers @beaussima @nashaatbello @zoliesthetikbeauty for sharing your wisdom with the room! 🖤 by @talishacox_

Still so happy to have been able to take part in @ukbbweek talk last week. It's been a while since I did any public speaking and what a way to get back into it! One of my key takeaways was that the beauty industry just keeps evolving and we need to keep adapting and not being afraid to try something new. Education is so important and being in spaces like this reminds me that as a self-made founder, I have so much knowledge to share. Thank you again to @ukbbshow for the opportunity.

Twenty years in and I’m still excited about educating the next generation of stylists. Still invested in changing how textured hair is perceived and treated in the industry. We are all still learning. If you’re building a career in beauty, if you want mentorship, if you want to work with someone who’s walked this path and wants to help you navigate it better, connect with me.

Let’s grow this industry together.

I created @imanhair_official for three reasons: ✨

1. Quality without compromise. Hair that looks and feels luxurious, every single time.
2. Confidence in every strand. Hair that helps you feel like the best version of yourself.
3. Luxury that works for you. Beautiful, versatile hair designed to fit your lifestyle, not the other way around.

Iman Hair is more than just hair. It’s about how you feel when you wear it. 🤎

Running a textured hair salon in 2026 is harder than five years ago. Real talk on tax burden, margins, pricing, sustainability. If you’re building a salon, you need a financial model, not hope.

I say this as someone who’s built two salons from the ground up. I’m not complaining. I’m calling it what it is.

People cost money!! The tax burden on salon owners has shifted dramatically. Between National Insurance, VAT, Corporation Tax, and if you’re a sole trader, Self-Assessment on top of everything else, you’re looking at a squeeze that doesn’t exist in other service industries. A stylist working with me is paying National Insurance.

Retail margins are getting tighter because of VAT compliance and inventory holding costs. Chair rent models are shifting because stylists understand their own tax burden better. Prices aren’t scaling with costs because clients can’t absorb another 20 percent increase and salons can’t absorb it either. Salon owners are burning out trying to survive financially while maintaining quality.

I believe in adaptation and if we want to survive as service providing businesses over the next few years we all need to be really intentional about pricing strategically and not underselling ourselves out of fear. by @talishacox_

Thank you for choosing us always 🖤

What an honour to speak with other incredible black founders at @ukbbweek @ukbbshow sharing the truth behind building a business from the ground up!

@elitehairlounge has been open for 11 years now and I have worked tirelessly to create a business that can withstand any changes that the economy throws our way. Being a founder in the UK right now, especially in the beauty space, is a challenge but we are persevering and winning!

It was an honour to share the stage with you all today! The more we all speak openly & honestly, the better.
