art for me, maybe for you, definitely for the birds
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
To feel close to God
I sit on my back porch and smoke a bowl

Every so often, the train can be heard in the distance,
like a small ocean passing overhead,
like a blimp,
the same kind of magic.

We put lights on the railing,
and my neighbor’s floodlight makes them look like tiny twinkling bugs.
It’s rare you can see the stars,
but there are clouds, and other balconies with twinkly bugs,
open windows with ambient light -
all the same kind of magic.

I like to explore that word - magic -
to taste it on my tongue, or put it behind my teeth, carry it around like chewing tobacco.
I like to hold it in my palms or place it on my shoulder, surrender to it.

I imagine that from my neighbor’s window, our porch looks like a choreographed dance -
smoke rises,
fireflies burn,
oceans soften,
blimps overhead shake the sky,
magic rains,
god visits. by @talkingbird_

Sometimes all I can do is doodle on my iPad, especially when I’m full to the brim. My dad used to say “it’s up to my teeth!” A man I dated recently said “enough with the feelings already - “oy with the poodles already!!!”) as if I wasn’t made of 90% feeling and 10% wandering around searching for them, witnessing them, trying to make sense of them. It’s heavy, we’re feeling, trying to love on our communities, trying to find enough satisfaction with the scratch of a pencil against paper to get us through the next 24 hours. Trying to find a little dopamine. by @talkingbird_

I’m not sure there’s anything else to say, like an anvil on the chest; how do we map the terrain if we’ve never been here before? by @talkingbird_

And the sound of your name
Brings down the perennial rain
I can feel it coming down
And I can't stop thinking about

2026 the year of our savior, new snail mail 🙏 🙏

Really in ny LCD Soundsystem era lately - maybe that comes with the territory of entering your 30s, the existential need to both disco and wax poetic about the ebb and flow of existing 🪩💃 by @talkingbird_

One of mine❤️

I’m waiting for an encore
a sweet one, preferably hands outstretched
feet forward,
but the music doesn’t make sense,
no bridge,
and they took down my favorite painting at the Art Institute -
You ask if I know about longing.

Have you seen Hamnet yet?
Big giant crocodile tears filled up the auditorium, and we all become dehydrated, wake up hungover
while my cat fights the memory foam of my mattress,
inflating like a ghost from the last impression -

I fight the foam, too, for a different memory, a different impression, a different crocodile with a clock in its belly, a different kind of prey. by @talkingbird_
