I am beyond grateful for the incredible turnout today. Conversations about HIV and mental health are so important, especially within the Black community, and I’m honored to have been a part of this event.

A special thank you to A6 and Ms. Linda Harris for inviting me to speak. It was truly a privilege to share this space with everyone.

Thank you as well to my family and friends who came out to support and participate. Your presence meant so much to me.
I look forward to many more opportunities to educate, inspire, and continue these important conversations through future speaking engagements. Thank you all for making today so meaningful. ❤️ #aidsawareness #mentalhealth #blacktherapists taken in ALLEN Temple-CME Church Portland,OR by @talkswithjune

Still glowing from our Vision Board Party a true "Toast To Your Vision." Being in community with women who are dreaming boldly, speaking life over their goals, and leaving feeling empowered + filled spiritually and literally was everything.
So much gratitude for everyone in the room, the energy, and the reminder that we don’t have to build alone. A huge thank you to our incredible hosts @crystalandstoneevents @therealtrarenee @talkswithjune @queen_e_31 @louizapdx for pulling together something this magical in just 10 days. This is proof that alignment + action creates magic.
Here’s to clarity, sisterhood, and calling it all in. 🤎🥂

Three women came together for an intentional night of vision, voice, and purpose. ✨
A sacred space was created where women could speak life into what they foresee for 2026—not just dreaming, but declaring.
I am a firm believer in the power of the tongue. What we speak has the ability to shape outcomes, shift atmospheres, and call things into existence. These vision boards are more than pictures on poster boards; they are blueprints. They represent the direction we are moving in as we step boldly into 2026 with clarity and faith. Special thank you to Libby, @crystalandstoneevents @therealtrarenee and @louizapdx . #2026visionboard taken in Louiza pdx by @talkswithjune

“Resilience” is a word that holds great weight. As a therapist, I’ve walked through many trials and tribulations, not just with others, but in my own life as well. And yet, I’ve never really thought of myself as resilient. What I have done is learn to cope, to adapt, and to push through.
Receiving the Resilience Award was both humbling and unexpected. I am incredibly grateful not only for the recognition, but for the opportunity to share my story with women who may be facing their own struggles. If my journey can serve as a source of strength, hope, or even just a moment of connection, then I feel truly blessed.
Thank you to Pastor Katina Collin’s and @9fortyfive_accessories for allowing me to be part of something so meaningful. taken in Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel by @talkswithjune

Delayed gratification is the ability to resist an immediate reward in favor of a more valuable reward in the future. It’s a skill that involves self-control and self-regulation

This can make a person give up or question their own ability. In the mist of these delayed gratifications it hurts and questioning should you continue to try is normal. But remember the reward will come and it will be a great feeling when it does.

Have you ever noticed how some men gravitate toward women who reflect their past experiences, even if those experiences were unhealthy or painful? It can be heartbreaking to see a man with the opportunity to build a meaningful connection with a stable, loving woman, only to watch him return to a familiar yet toxic dynamic.

This often stems from unresolved trauma or a subconscious pull toward what feels familiar—even if it’s harmful. For some men, the women they pursue may mirror aspects of their past relationships, such as a mother figure or someone who once hurt them deeply. The result? They struggle to identify and embrace “good women” who could support their growth and happiness.

Why does this happen?
When a man is unhealed, stability and love can feel foreign or even intimidating. He may not know how to respond to a healthy dynamic and instead seeks out relationships that feel familiar—relationships that may bring chaos, but also comfort in their dysfunction.

This isn’t just a male issue; women can fall into the same pattern too. It’s a cycle of seeking what feels familiar rather than what’s good for us.

What does this mean for you?
If you’ve found yourself dating someone who seems to run from stability, remember: it’s not you—it’s them. Healing takes time, self-awareness, and effort, and both men and women need to work through their past before they can fully embrace a healthy relationship.

✨ Listening to this podcast brought so much clarity for me. It’s not about being “good enough” for someone who isn’t ready—it’s about understanding that you deserve someone who is healed, whole, and ready to meet you where you are.

Take care of your heart and remember: love rooted in healing is worth the wait. 💛
