4 Things I Wish I Knew Before Becoming a Social Media Manager 1. Creating content is only a small part of the job. There’s strategy, research, content planning, scheduling, analytics, community management and so much more happening behind the scenes. 2. Getting clients takes more than just being good at what you do. You can create amazing content, but you also need to learn how to market yourself, pitch your services, build relationships and show people why they need you. 3. Not every client will understand the process. Social media growth takes time, consistency and strategy. Setting expectations and communicating clearly from the beginning makes all the difference. 4. You need to treat your own business like a client. It’s easy to focus on everyone else’s content and forget your own. But building your portfolio, showing your results and consistently marketing your services are just as important. Being a Social Media Manager is more than posting pretty pictures. It’s strategy, creativity, problem-solving and constant learning.
