My hour long commute across the Bay Bridge this morning set my wellbeing back a bit but also reminded me why I love life. It’s not perfect but I’m living it and I’m grateful.

Almost every year I go to @solageauberge for my birthday. I love the privacy and inhibitions of the spa pool and the weather is always perfect. This year was no exception.

The resort opened in 2007 and expanded in 2021 to the 22 acres of lushness it is today. It has indoor-outdoor living and movement spaces, thermal bathing, sauna, cold plunge and my favorite spa services - Swedish Thai massage (that no longer seems to be offered 🤔) and most recently the hydrafacial.

@visitcalistoga is known for its mineral water and mud baths but is also a very beautiful part of Napa wine country. The drive to Calistoga along Hwy 29 is a scenic and extremely beautiful portal to a very magical place.

Since Solage is on the Silverado Trail serious consideration for any wellness visit should include

@schramsberg to drink J. Schram Brut Rosé and kiss a few frogs
@lolawines for Chenin Blanc by the fireplace
@twomeycellars for their Bordeaux style Sauvignon Blanc or juicy Pinot Noir
@chmontelena for Chardonnay and a nip from the wild swans
Hike Mt. Saint Helena @castateparks

I’ve been thinking a lot about beautiful spaces and how important they are to my happiness and wellbeing.

Recently, I had the privilege of spending the week @matteistavernauberge in Los Olivos, nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley about 50 miles north of Santa Barbara. Historically a property that crossed between hotel, restaurant, speakeasy and most of all a gathering space in the 19th century, it is now a beautiful 6.54 acre wine country ranch managed by @auberge since 2020. With the guidance of Historical Landmark Advisory Committee, the architects and designers did a beautiful job preserving the land, history and architecture of the property, while elevating the property into a relaxed modern wine country experience. The original tavern, cottages and water tower remain a part of the property.

For me wellbeing comes from having the time and space to pause, reconnect with myself, and renew. Between the relaxing property itself, the natural design of the pool (where I spent most of my time) and the full-moon ceremony, it didn’t feel like I was escaping from the world. Instead it was like I intentionally slowed down enough to actually experience where I was and who I was with. It felt like an infusion of nature and the twilight of Los Olivos into the rhythm of my life.

While Los Olivos District AVA has approx 48 wineries, I didn’t do much wine tasting. Los Olivos Village itself has about 30 tasting rooms/wineries but the one and only stop I made was to my good friends at @horizoncellars . Horizon focuses on Rhône and Bordeaux varieties, including two of my favorites - Rose that I can’t get enough of and their fabulous Lateral which is a beautiful blend of Mourvedre and Grenache served chilled.

Just a 1 hr plane ride or 4.5 hr drive from the Bay Area and 1.5 hours from LA, @losolivosca is a quiet wine country luxury that I recommend. taken in Los Olivos, California by @tam__ca

I’ve been going @linesballet shows since 2014. It is one of the greatest joys in my life.
