A year ago, my friend @rodaworld told me she’d empower me to write a book. Silence isn’t my strength, and writing has always felt like a struggle.
 But on Sept 20th, I found myself at @thesilentwritingretreat with the incredible @marabrockakil , and something shifted. Mara’s words hit like they were written just for me. Even in a room of strangers, it felt like we spoke without words.

This birthday post is very late - my birthday was in June. But I’ve decided I’m celebrating 50 all year because turning 50 made me think less about the number and more about how I want to spend my time from here.

There’s something about this age that makes you take inventory — not just of what you’ve done, but of what you still want more of. And for me, that’s time to wander, be curious, get lost, think, not think, and exist without always needing to accomplish something.

So once a month, for this entire year, I’m taking a little getaway. Nothing necessarily grand. Just a chance to step outside of my normal life and find my way back to myself a little.

So yes, there will probably be birthday posts in October, November, December and beyond.

Apparently 50 isn’t a birthday. It’s a year-long celebration.

Founder life means wearing a lot of them—and they tend to follow you onto planes, trains, site visits, coffee shops, and anywhere with decent Wi-Fi.

Now that the opportunity to tell the story is finally here, I’m realizing how difficult it can be to share it without polishing away the very parts that made it real.

The years nobody was filming.
The years before personal brands, content strategies, and founder playbooks.
The years spent doing the work because it needed to be done.

Somewhere along the way, being seen became the goal. But I’ve started to wonder if the things that shape us most often happen long before anyone is watching.

For anyone who has never quite fit the categories, this one’s for you.

The older I get, the more I’ve realized that the biggest decisions in life aren’t always about what’s right on paper.

Sometimes they’re about choosing the life you’ll actually enjoy living.

For years, I chased what looked like success. These days, I ask a different question: Will this make my life look better... or actually make it better?

That one shift has changed the way I approach my career, relationships, and the life I’m continuing to build.
