After Ireland it was off to the Isle of Man to attend a wedding for a friend who I’ve known since we were 5 and shared a pair of fisher price roller skates, one skate for each of us.

I don’t think we would have thought to travel to the Isle of Man if we hadn’t been invited to this wedding. The groom’s dad was born there, but moved away when he was about 5. So they thought why not have a destination wedding there and we thought why not travel somewhere new!

We were quite pleasantly surprised by the island. One of the highlights was riding the little steam train.

Very cute.

We rode the train to Port Saint Mary.

Fun use for an old telephone booth. I always enjoy stumbling upon little free libraries wherever we go.

From Port Saint Mary we started hiking along The Way of the Gull, one of the long meandering hikes around the island. The views were stunning thought parts involved dodging a lot of sheep 💩.

Tess looked straight out of a Wes Anderson film.

We ended the hike at the Sound with tea and a little treat.

The island has a lot of fun transportation options, including a horse drawn tram.

Tess and Ryan got married at the city council building.

What a fun celebration of love.

Afterwards it was time for tea.

And we were even treated to a rainbow to wrap up a nice day.

The next day we headed to Peel where we visited Peel Castle.

And went for one last wander up a big hill. taken in Isle of Man by @tamaraberg

We landed in Dublin and immediately hopped into a rental car. Driving on the wrong side of the road through narrow country roads with nary a shoulder was a bit harrowing, but we made it to galway. It was a bit touristy for us, but we did enjoy a pub dinner and some Guinness.

This was one of our favorite unexpected stops on the trip, a pub in the middle of the Burren with great views of the limestone hills.

We chatted with the proprietor, a young guy who told us he had lived in San Diego and Berkeley before returning to Ireland to run the family pub, Cassidy’s as the 7th generation of Cassidy to run this establishment.

Then it was on to the Cliffs of Moher.

We took a picnic of baguette, cheese, olives and pate up with us to enjoy with the view.

We stayed in a little guesthouse in Ballyvaughan with a cozy library where you could enjoy tea, self serve wine, and a fire each night. The highlight was the gregarious host who was from Italy but has been running this guesthouse for 30 years. That’s a painting of his mother on the wall.

One of the places that enchanted us the most was Inis Oirr (pronounced inish-ear). It was a harrowing 15 minute ferry to get there but well worth the trip. There were these beautiful maze like stone walls everywhere made by clearing the limestone from the hills to create these tiny little fields of grass.

The island has a population of about 300 residents and we greatly enjoyed our day wandering around and exploring.

Ireland has about as many sheep as people.

This is a beehive hut (with a little bee statue to the left).

We visited many a castle in Ireland from tiny 2 room ruins to this larger one - Bunratty castle. You could even attend a castle banquet though we opted to skip that.

Next it was off to Dingle. We accidentally drove over Conor pass, considered the scariest road in Ireland with a narrow road and a steep cliff drop that eventually narrows so far that only one car can drive at a time. Luckily it wasn’t too crowded and we only had one instance where a car coming toward us had to backup and find a slightly wider bit where we could pass each other.

Dingle was very cute with all of the colorful row houses and by @tamaraberg

Amsterdam has changed a lot since I was last there in 1993, but some things are still the same. About 5 million annual tourists in 1993 vs 23 million today.

But, the canals are still beautiful, especially in the early morning when the water reflects the surroundings so perfectly.

If you told me this was a painting I’d probably believe you.

The museums are of course unforgettable.

We especially enjoyed taking a day trip to Haarlem with its perfect little streets of row houses, little doorstep gardens, and fewer tourists.

There’s even a little windmill.

Our Airbnb was right on a canal with a bed that came out of the bookshelf at the press of a button.

I had the Indonesian Rijsttafel I’ve been dreaming about since 1993 and it didn’t disappoint.

We also visited Moeders for some traditional Dutch food. These are pictures of customers’ mothers from over the years (Moeder means mother).

For a special treat we went to De Kas who serve farm to table cuisine in a 1920s greenhouse.

The weeping willows have my heart.

The cars in Amsterdam are ever so tiny. The better to drive along those narrow canal roads.

Little free library Amsterdam edition.

We spent many an hour wandering between cafes. So many good pastries.

And yummy poffertjes (tiny pancakes).

So long Amsterdam. Until next time! #amsterdam #travel #travelrecommendations #seetheworld #foodie taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @tamaraberg

Same trail, less snow. Same us, just a little more silver up top. Glad to have a chance to visit Glacier once more. Not sure what it will be like in 18 more years. #glaciernationalpark #thenvsnow #getoutside #gnp #climatechange taken in Glacier National Park by @tamaraberg

I actually started this outfit with the linen skirt but then it evolved into full on neon after I paired it with this thrifted top that matched these united nude platforms pretty perfectly. #ootd #dopaminedressing #thriftedfinds #whatimwearing #styleinspo @unitednude by @tamaraberg
