A year ago God decided it was time you to join Him in heaven and we lost an angel on earth. What I wouldn’t do to hear your laugh just one more time… look into your sapphire eyes, feel your scratchy beard, hold your strong hand, ask you a million questions that I forgot to ask, tell you so many silly stories that have happened since you’ve been gone, ask for your advice and for your forgiveness … just one more time Daddy. Here’s to the happiest of birthdays to my dear, cherished friend and my always-up-for-anything adventure girlfriend! 🩷 She is truly one of the most caring people I know, with a heart of pure gold. She is an amazing mama and gammy who sets the bar incredibly high, always ready for an adventure, and loves with her whole heart.

Sea turtle nesting season at Ocean Isle Beach is such a special time of year. Once the mama sea turtle comes ashore and carefully lays her eggs, her little nest rests quietly beneath the sand for approximately 50 days. Then, from late July through September, the tiny hatchlings begin their incredible journey emerging from the sand and making their way toward the ocean. It is truly magical to witness. On the day Tim and I were there, Tim and I witnessed little Dolly make her way to the ocean to swim with her fellow brothers and sisters. The dedicated volunteers of the Sea Turtle Protection Organization work tirelessly throughout the season to protect these precious nests and the tiny lives they hold, from the moment mama lays her eggs until her hatchlings emerge and begin their long journey to the sea. The ocean and its beautiful creatures are such a precious gift. Being a mama has to be one of the most beautiful, yet most challenging, jobs that exists. Watching your littles grow and flourish from those divine little creatures into beautiful, intelligent, compassionate adults who spread their wings and soar toward their dreams is incredibly rewarding, yet so bittersweet. 🩷.
I always share the best advice I ever received with young mamas: Hold your babies as much as you possibly can. Soak it all in. Because one day, you realize that when they grow up, they’re in your life at their pleasure. And that makes every single moment—from the instant they take their very first breath—so incredibly precious.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones. Once my babies have gifted me their precious time and head back out into their busy lives, I have a loving husband with big giant arms to hold me until I get to see them again. ❤️
