11k ✨ Last month we achieved two milestones: turning 4 and reaching 10k. I didn’t celebrate because grief happened 🕊️ 11 is now my angel number, so this feels special 🤍 I started S&S with a focus on working in the music industry and having a creative outlet. The OG’s will remember the music lyric slogan socks & sending them out to every DJ I could 🎶 I had no idea how S&S would evolve & the significance of this for my lifestyle. I fell in love with reformer pilates, started making grip socks and built the most beautiful community around movement 🩰 the music hustle paid off and I secured a part-time role at @thenewbmg, which allowed me to balance my time across music & pilates. I’m grateful to work in spaces I’m passionate about and have flexibility to manage my chronic fatigue syndrome, because this girl loves to party 💫 People always ask if the goal is to run S&S full time and the truth is, it’s not. The goal was to find balance and fulfilment. The combination I have now is perfect for my lifestyle and love for music & movement. Hiring my best friend as the first employee was special, and building a brand has given me friendships & opportunities I didn’t know were possible 💌 It’s been my biggest blessing & my biggest stress - social media highlights the achievements but running a business is one of the most testing experiences. Throughout it all, 11,000 of you have joined me for the highs, the lows and the chaos in between. Thank you to the strangers on the internet who became friends in the DMs, the people I’ve met, those I might never meet, the foot models, brands, clients, studio owners, instructors, clients, ravers and my family & friends, who quite often receive a ‘I’m closing the business x’ message, before reminding me how far I’ve come 🫶 The hustle is real but the community is the realest 🚀 thank you for putting my South London business on the map. Manifested this one @socksandsass x @defectedrecords BTS from one of my favourite days ever! Defected were my dream collab so I decided to take a risk & make some samples to push my vision forward. At Tisno in 2023 I saw @wezsaunders sat in The Garden and decided to show him what I’d been working on. The next day, after dancing until 7am, I went straight to a meeting to present S&S to the head of merch (slide 12) and the rest is history. I took samples to the office in Oct 2023 & in Oct 2024 I was back, shooting the collection (slide 13) ✨ This collaboration means the world. The first drop supported @sheltercharity & the following collection was a testament to my love & passion for Defected, as well as my hustle and commitment to making this happen. The third drop is in production & I couldn’t be more grateful 🪩 Manifestation is real. Big love to everyone who helped make this happen. Dad 💔 It’s been 6 months & nothing can prepare you for losing a parent. Behind the haze of addiction he was the brightest, most charismatic, talented, witty, loving and kind person. He left an impression wherever he went & music was always the answer 🎼 Navigating grief is one of the most challenging things I’ve faced. My therapy has been escaping in the dance & his music on repeat - as he would have said, ‘let’s turn the f*** up’ 🪩 Side 5 is one of my favourites: written, composed & performed by Dad at Camden Palace (now Koko), ‘So much for love’ 🎵 Hope I’m making you proud up there, my rockstar.
