POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi, I’m Bee - she/her 🐝

There are a few more of you here lately, so it feels like a good time to actually introduce myself.

I’ve worked in coffee for 15+ years, which still feels slightly ridiculous to say out loud. ☕️

I’m particularly interested in the people side of coffee: how we train people well, how we create routes into the industry, how independent coffee communities support each other, and how we make this industry somewhere people can actually build sustainable careers.

I’m originally from Leeds and now live in Lancaster. Outside of work, I’m happiest pottering around my allotment, growing things, birdwatching, getting outside, exploring somewhere new and eating fine food. 🥦

So amongst the coffee, expect allotment progress, birds, walks, little adventures and whatever my latest obsession happens to be. by @tampandwander

Now the dust has settled on @slurpfestuk Leeds, I’ve had a moment to reflect on what we created.

Seeing busy workshops, packed cuppings and so many people exploring Leeds through coffee made every frantic moment worthwhile.

More than anything, it reminded me that people are still hungry for genuine connection, shared learning and joyful coffee experiences. Leeds has an incredibly generous coffee community, and I feel very lucky to be part of it.

Tired, proud and very grateful. Until next time, Slurpfest 💙☕️ by @tampandwander

SEASON 2 STARTS TOMORROW! 💫

In episode one, I sit down with the wonderful Bee Southworth (she/her) - Coffee Partnerships and Training Manager for @northstarroast in Leeds.

With a fruitful coffee journey that spans over 16 years, this conversation with Bee provides a real deep dive into the honest realities of working in the coffee industry - starting out as a barista and journeying through a real variety of corners of the coffee industry.

Hilarious, honest and deeply personal, Bee’s story is super inspiring, and is something that I felt influenced me from the day that we sat down together.

In the podcast we discuss the formative impact of working in hospitality in comparison to university experiences, the power of Linkedin, social media and their relation to hiring practices in coffee, how the coffee industry can compromise a work-life balance and the realities of living and working with anxiety on a daily basis.

Last weekend I was DELIGHTED to spend time with the team at @littleperthuk to celebrate their 5th Birthday with a few of their fantastic customers.

Thanks for the excellent hospitality, experience and questions. It's a gorgeous community you've got down there!
