@thealiporepost has been a favourite here for their wonderful curation of words and visuals. So when they joined hands with Shruti, from @nivaala.co to come up with this creative love child, Memories on a Plate, an anthology that creates a space for the joys of cooking and the nostalgia of food (another one of my interests), I knew I had to try and contribute something! I am elated that they did end up considering an illustration I made for their beautiful project. It feels surreal and magical to have my artwork among 200+ pages of food stories, personal anecdotes, memories, recipes, art, poetry, and photo essays from Indian kitchens around the globe.
I'm truly grateful to Rohini from @thealiporepost and Shruti from @nivaala.co for coming up with it and for making me its part. 🌻💌

One of the first works I did for the magazine was this piece on Dr. Bhupen Hazarika for its fourth issue. With the birth centenary celebration of the bard going on, sharing a part of its process feels like a full circle moment.

Grateful for the journey so far. 🍀

Last year, our team had the privilege of having Kamal Kataki, guitarist and close companion of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in his later days, on call for an interview. A candid conversation which followed which gave us insight on the bard's hope for the young, up and coming generation. Hazarika's work with and for children, likely known to all but seldom realised that it is to his credit, were also discussed.

Read to find out and remember the bard's evergreen words of wisdom, available in our fourth Issue.
