PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING // ALEXANDRA PALACE

Ten (+1) years of @psb_hq’s iconic album The Race For Space, celebrated back in at @yourallypally where they first launched the album in 2014.

We designed the production and lighting for a show that went fully into orbit. A Sputnik sailed over the heads of a crowd in space helmets, astronauts joined the band on stage, and the brass played out under beams, TVs, pyro and balloons, before an intergalactic landing brought the whole thing home.

Creative direction and concept from @im_mister_b.

Production management from James Campbell and tour management from Elisa Lucrezia.

Lighting from @coloursoundexperiment, and the Sputnik from @sceniqsets, flown by Harry Harrison.

JORJA SMITH // ALL POINTS EAST

Our first show with @jorjasmith_, closing the opening night of @allpointseast to 45,000 in Victoria Park on the day her beautiful new album What Are The Odds landed.

Built around the album’s world of UK garage, 2-step, funky and afro house, the show was an homage to pirate radio — taking in the blocks and streets where @Rinse.FM first broadcast, a stone’s throw from the park — and ran on a loose narrative of phone-ins to Jorja FM, tuning through the decade since her debut. @kylaofficial, @KatyB, @archives.nia, @AJTracey and @LoyleCarner all joined her, plus @thebluelightschoir Jorja founded back home in Walsall.

Befitting an artist with such an expansive palette, at the centre of it all was a drape effect we concepted with @fray_studio: a way of softening the festival’s LED surface with organic movement, blurring the content behind it and carrying its colour through in bloom and glow. It gathered, drew and reshaped as the night moved from soul into the club.

Creative was developed by us with Jorja and her team, working closely with Erin Corrian-Alexis and Ivor Lawson Adamah. Musical direction by Amane Suganami.

Lighting design by Matthew Elliot Kemp at @quantum_creative, programmed by @jakewallenda, with video content from @fray_studio and disguise programming from Jack Nicklin Jewell.

Lighting and automation from @lightscontrolrigging, video from Vanta, scenic from Up-Set, and the whole thing kept running by Harry Duffin and Chris Tyler.
