A few weeks ago, I spent some time with my dad in Florida, and we decided to check out the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive with @sjrwmd. This 11-mile nature drive is absolutely breathtaking!
You can drive through or, if you’re brave enough, walk or ride a bike. We chose to drive because we’re not quite that adventurous, although we did stop and get out a few times.
The hundreds of alligators didn’t seem to mind us at all—they just went about their day. We also saw so many beautiful birds, with countless different species along the way. The entire drive was peaceful, relaxing, and full of incredible views. If you’re interested, you can even listen to an educational audio program as you make your way through the trail.
One thing we forgot was our binoculars, and I highly recommend bringing a pair! You can see wildlife and the natural beauty for miles, and binoculars would have made the experience even better.
The drive took us about 2 to 2½ hours, but you can take as much time as you’d like. There’s only one way in, but the road is wide enough to safely go around slower vehicles if needed.
I definitely plan on going back this winter since I’ve heard the alligators spend more time sunning themselves on the roads. This is one of those places you could visit over and over again and discover something new every single time.
If you’re ever in Central Florida, I highly recommend adding Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive to your itinerary. Whether you’re a wildlife lover, bird watcher, photographer, or just looking for a peaceful escape into nature, this hidden gem is well worth the visit. I just wanted to get on here and first tell everyone thank you for all the love and support you've shown my family and I.

My family and I just got back from a much needed family vacation over spring break. It was the most amazing vacation. I got to relax in the warm sun, eat way too much, lay by the pool, and hang out with my family. The best part was seeing my kids just live life with no worries.

I've just been spending the last few days before surgery getting stuff done around the house that I have been wanting to get done. You know when your pregnant and nest before the baby arrives? Yeah I feel like I'm doing that.

I've heard I'll be down for a good week but after that I should be up and moving a little. Hopefully the weather improves so I can get out for some fresh air on the deck.

I'll post an update sometime next week to let you all know how I'm recovering. If you have any suggestions for some good books, movies or tv shows I can enjoy while I recover please let me know. I look forward to laying in my bed enjoying a good book and watching a few movies.

This picture was taken just a few short weeks ago. Kinda seems much longer than that since so much has happened since then. It’s a picture of me not really knowing what emotion to show on my face. I knew deep in my gut my life was about to take a huge turn, put my strength to the test and challenge my family. I wanted to capture the emotions I was feeling then. I had just left the hospital from a right breast biopsy. A week earlier I had a mammogram because I had found a lump. Even at the mammogram I kinda knew something wasn’t right but there was some hope.

On February 14th the day I went in for my left biopsy I got the confirmation we all knew “you have breast cancer”

My month has been filled with 2 biopsies a lymph nodes biopsy, new meds, MRI, genetic testing, consults with doctors and planning my surgery. It’s been a lot but so far everything is looking really positive!!

In April I will have a bilateral mastectomy then we will go from there as they’ll do more test and check my lymph nodes.

My husband has been my rock letting me have my highs and lows. My kids are processing it as much as they can. I was once their age going through the same thing so I’m not sure if that helps them or not.

To everyone who has been in my little circle while I figure this all out thank you for all the support.

Please ladies go get your mammogram! Know your body and what is normal. Advocate for your health. I hope you never hear those horrible words and if you do call me and we will fight that storm together.
