How To Shop With Impact: 🍑🍒🌱🛒

1. Shop In Season Produce: eating seasonal means you are eating food at peak ripeness where flavor is the best and produce is the most nutrient dense with the highest nutritional value. In this case, food is most likely being grown locally not out of the country. This supports our farmers and their families and jobs in our communities.

2. Read Labels and Ask Questions: Get curious about where your food comes from. The source matters, nutrition matters, safe practices matter, water conservation matters. The more knowledge you have about where your food comes from you can make more informed choices for your health and your families.

3. Shop Local: contact the ‘local farm bureau’ in your county to get a list of local farmers you can build relationships with. This helps support eating seasonally, local economies, and safe production practices.

4. The Sad Truth: Farmer’s are struggling and going out business everyday. Fallow ground can have negative consequences on our land, water systems, and habitats. If we don’t all participate and do our part in protecting our old food system of growing, I pose the question, who will grow our food? Not to mention job loss, and the detriment this can cause on the local job economy. We need to protect our food system at all costs.
