Loving the bite size idea delivery systems that are zines recently <3

I made these guys featuring a story about D&D character’s lineage, and I adore having a time capsule of how far they’ve come and how far I’ve come with writing as well. Makes it feel official.

This month I found light in art, in nature, and in human kindness and generosity. I’m not sure I could categorize them in any way besides the connection they brought <3

I visited de Cordova sculpture park and felt connected to Chromatic Portals by Silvia López Chavez. The exploration of being embedded into the ecosystem is something I have turned over in my brain for months and months, and it felt appropriate to see it explored by another artist.

I ran my hands through the beds of sage and lavender at a garden and spent a few moments taking in the scent. One of my favorite ways to appreciate Earth’s work.

I followed along with the 12 hour D&D fundraiser stream for Make a Wish. It was such a fun time, and they ended up raising over $10,000 past their goal! Seeing people come together over imagination to fuel imagination and hope for others was nothing short of wonderful.

I found a beautiful piece of artwork inside of a sculpture at a sculpture park, I loved the layers of reflections against reality.

This week, I remembered how important to the creative process to play, and also just how FUN it is. I hung out at a park that I hadn’t been to in maybe 10 years, and proceeded to I write like an entire essay that evening, and I don’t wanna say it felt easy, but how it did feel was natural. I was particularly fond of these peepholes and the perspectives they lent me. There’s probably something insightful to say about that but also just pretty ✨

It is difficult to feel seen in such a big world but this month’s connections have shown me that shared experiences between humans can sometimes feel bigger than a conversation ever could.

⭐️ I scoped out the local concert scene this month. Live music isn’t something I’ve experienced a lot of, but seeing someone create their art in real time, AND knowing that these talented artists are a part of this community just like me, AHG it’s beautiful. To quote a friend of mine, that’s so living creature. (I also ofc brought my plush companion, I like to take pictures of him when I go out to document my presence)

⭐️ I did an activity with my art therapy group where we created mood boards of how we each see each other. It was much more emotional than I expected, to be seen in so many different lights but have all of them be true. One comparison in particular that struck a chord was a friend comparing me to this toy beetle. I can honestly say I’ve never been more flattered.

⭐️ Art Fight officially ended this month :(( very sad times, but witnessing all of the excitement and well wishes and sentimental goodbyes in the Art Fight discord server as we counted down the final moments together more than made up for it <3 (picture is my rendition of Panicking_pagan’s character Aphrodite)

Thinking about the cyclical process of inspiration and creation recently 💚

In my art therapy group, we basically make fan art of each other’s creations, and it’s genuinely so wonderful. My own Tedwin bear is quite literally named after my friend Edwin from that group, inspired by his passionate Ted-win Talks, and then another friend from the group DRAWS Tedwin, and it just keeps spiralling.

This happens at LEAST once a week, and that’s cuz we’ve cultivated a space where we share our joys and passions, and actively support others’ joys and passions. We sometimes joke about being the devil on each other’s shoulders, but I think it it’s much more beautiful and human than that. I think this is the most natural form of creating. Inspiration doesn’t happen in isolation.
