The majority of you will most likely have heard of Sidhu Moosewala but you may not realise the extent to which his untimely death has impacted the Panjabi community worldwide.

What Sidhu Moosewala created was a measure inexhaustible. People like these set out to ensure that the voices of their community were heard and stood for something more in a world where many pursue empty attachments. For the world to feel affected by the death of someone they don’t personally know, is to realise that our energy has the potential to reverberate beyond the circles we believe to be our own.

If you want to be “successful”, forget your friends and family.

I’m sure you’ve heard how, when it comes to business, be prepared to have no friends and family. Everyone is out to see you fail and/or outdo you. You are also told you don’t need them. As much as there is truth to the first point, there is much more pertinence to why this is B$. Particularly the last about need.

Business is a difficult task. Whatever you are blessed to accomplish; It’s no small feat. It becomes your baby and when it grows, personal obligations start to fall by the wayside.

The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to run and build a multi-million £ business in my twenties, be involved with groundbreaking schemes that shape our environment, travel the world and connect with many great and influential people.

In press and online, this exudes a “successful” and confident businessman. It’s paints a great picture but the reality is far from it. If this is what “success” is all about, then I don’t want it.

Shout out to all those making moves. But remember those who you hold dearly. We think personal demands need to fall second to the demands of business or “success”, but these are the same people whose energy has gotten you to where you are today. Be prepared to lose your mind in business, but don’t lose the people that will help you rebuild it.

And this doesn’t just extend to those following through on entrepreneurial endeavours. We’re all guilty of it. Our people are the most successful and valuable asset we are gifted with, but that equally requires commitment.

Let’s normalise vulnerability in business and make time to check in on your people.

Friends/Family = Success

Achievement means very little unless it creates memories with family and enables you to contribute something worthwhile.

We’ve launched a new two-year partnership with @bmetcollege.

This programme will connect students to live developments, real work environments and clear pathways into employment, ensuring investment in the city translates into real opportunities for local people. It will support students from diverse and widening participation backgrounds, including Foundation Learning students with additional learning needs and SEND, ensuring they benefit from real projects, live environments and industry exposure.

We will also support an annual student prize, alongside live briefs, site visits and industry-led sessions.

Today at MIPIM we unveiled the £90m Birmingham BioCity - the region’s first CL2 fitted life sciences hub within the £4bn Birmingham Knowledge Quarter.

It will also be the first life sciences building delivered within a UK Government Investment Zone, marking a major milestone for Birmingham’s innovation economy.

This is a significant step forward for the city and a real catalyst for the next generation of science and innovation in the West Midlands.

We’re delighted to see strong support from leaders across the private and public sectors including the CEO of Lloyds Banking Group and HS2. by @tanidulay
